According to the history promoted by the "Virgen de Guadalupe" Catholic Church appeared to
him three times between 9 and 12 December 1531 a man named Juan Diego ( 1474-1548 ) , Indian
convert in 1531. *** of Guadalupe
The alleged occurrence took place on a hill near Mexico City called Tepeyac hill , a place
that coincidentally was considered sacred and magical by the residents of the region.
The Aztecs had built in the same place a shrine to the Indian goddess Tonantzin , better known
as "Our Mother." The dark appearance is said to have told Juan Diego that he wanted to
build a temple in his honor and proof print your image on this poncho . Immediately after
the appearance began circulating as the Indian version of the " *** Mary " with the name
" *** of Guadalupe " in reference to the Aztec term " Coatlallope " meaning " which
shattered the head of the serpent . " Catholicism began with the dismantling of
the Aztec culture and mental colonization of the American people through bloody campaigns
and missions. Catholic priests had difficulty tame and subdue the indigenous spirit and
in Mexico the "Virgen de Guadalupe " was an essential tool in this process.
Undoubtedly , the origins of the legend and the image are questionable. Juan Diego has
been controversial to be discussed its own existence by some historians and by the same
abbot of the Basilica of Guadalupe , Guillermo Schuleburg , who even claimed that the revelation
of the *** was an invention . Yet John Paul II beatified Juan Diego in1990
Temples and ritual sites were destroyed and many Aztec symbols were adapted Christianity
to facilitate the forced indoctrination to which the Aztecs and other tribes of the area
were being subjected . Since then the powerful " *** worship " has become an icon of Christian
superstition through Mexico and throughout Latin America due to mixtures of traditions
and symbols of American Christianity and paganism. For example the *** of Guadalupe is represented
standing on bull horns, a symbol of *** potency and fertility or a crescent moon , the
symbol of the moon goddess . Today the "*** " is a national symbol and image "miraculously
" appeared on the poncho of Juan Diego is a common decoration in any home or car and
its Mexican shrine is the most visited. Schulemburg Abbot is not the only cleric who
has openly declared the *** of Guadalupe an invention. "Some church leaders , " the
Associated Press reported in 1995 , "knew that the appearance of the *** of brown
skin had been a fable created to allow the Indians to continue worshiping their own goddess
. Others believe that priests created history to facilitate conversion of Mexican Indians
to Catholicism . "
Abad Schulemburg , he dared to admit : "It's an invention "
It was believed that Schulemburg statements had been published in the Italian magazine
" 30 Giorno " first, but was found to Giorno note was based on an interview " months before"
( Reuters) Mexican Catholic magazine called Ixtus.Reuters reported that " in that interview
- which still claims Abad - Schulemburg said Juan Diego symbolized a marriage between Catholicism
and traditional indigenous religions and recognized that the beatification a" cult "and not a
real person . " It did not stop there and brought their case
to the Vatican saying : "The existence of Juan Diego has not been demonstrated , we
could get many firms prepared ecclesiastical and intellectual laity who support this letter,
but do not want to cause unnecessary scandal " warned in the letter who ironically headed
the Marian shrine for 34 years. Besides Schulemburg , that throughout all
that time had the mission to be the guardian of the Guadalupe faith , also signed the document
Carlos Warnholtz , archpriest of the same sanctuary for almost all those years , Manuel
Olimon Nolasco , historian and professor at the Pontifical University of Mexico (UPM ) , Esteban
Martinez, former director of the Library of the Basilica.
AP also reported " small protests " when the statements were made public and that the " protesters
painted graffiti on the walls of the church demanding the resignation of the Abbot . "
Shortly after Schulemburg resignation. This shows that although the church were to be
honest and reveal all their lies , the gullible would not accept it and be revealed against
the makers of fables. Really religionists have created their frankenstein . the chase
and eventually be the cause of their debacle as in the famous novel.
But recent studies have image further fueled doubts about the supposed miracle as Leoncio
A. Garza- Valdes , 61, who in 1999 was part of a team that studied the image .
" The mantle of Our Lady of Guadalupe is not a painting but three paintings, one of which
is signed and dated So this is not a miraculous image , . Was created by man ," Garza- Valdes
said for editing Sunday's San Antonio Express -News.
Garza- Valdes , whose findings were published last week in the journal process , create
the image of the *** is not of supernatural origin , and that the figure of Juan Diego
is a creation of the Church at the time of the Conquest.
"We want to stop the canonization of Juan Diego ," Garza- Valdes said. "The Church is
committing a blunder . Guadalupe Catholic and I am , but I'm not apparitions , and do
not believe Juan Diego ," he said . After detailing the study of three paintings
, Garza- Valdez says he believes that the original image is the same as a well-known
statue of the Basilica of Extremadura in Spain . It also notes that the artist's initials
MA Marcos or Aquino - a historical figure - may be at one end of one of the paintings
near the date 1156.
Is biblical worship the saints and Mary? The Bible is absolutely clear that we only
worship God. The only cases in which someone receives worship God in the Bible is when
it comes to false gods , which are Satan and his demons. All followers of the Lord God
refuse worship. Peter and the apostles refused to be worshiped (Acts 10:25-26 , 14:13-14
) . Holy angels refused to be worshiped ( Revelation 19:10 , 22:9 ) . The answer is always the
same, "Worship God ! "
Roman Catholics attempt to " divert " these clear Scriptural principles , saying they
do not " worship" Mary and the saints , but rather they only " venerate" Mary and the
saints. Using a different word does not change the essence of what has been done . A definition
of " worship " is " exceedingly respect or worship . " Nowhere in the Bible tells us
that we worship anyone but God alone . There is nothing wrong with respecting those faithful
Christians who have gone before us ( see Hebrews chapter 11). There is nothing wrong with honoring
Mary as the earthly mother of Jesus. The Bible describes Mary as "highly favored " by God
( Luke 1:28 ) . At the same time , there is no instruction in the Bible to revere those
who have gone to heaven. We should follow his example , yes,but never worship , revere
or worship them !
When they are forced to admit that they actually worship Mary , Catholics argue that they worship
God through it , to adore the wonderful creation that God has made . Mary, in their minds,
is the most beautiful and wonderful creation of God, and to praise them are praising their
Creator. For Catholics, this is analogous to directing praise to an artist by praising
his sculpture or painting. The problem with this is that God explicitly forbids to be
worshiped through created things. We must not bow down and worship any thing that is
in heaven above or on the earth below ( Exodus 20:4-5 ) . Romans 1:25 can not be clearer:
" Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more
than the Creator, who is blessed forever . Amen . " Yes, God has created incredible and wonderful
things . Yes, Mary was a good woman who is worthy of our respect. No, absolutely must
not worship God " vicariously , " praising things ( or people ) that He has created . Doing
so is obviously idolatry.
The greatest way Catholics " venerate" Mary and the saints is by praying . As the following
statement shows, praying to someone other than God is unbiblical . "It is unbiblical
to pray to the saints and Mary, whether they pray directly to Mary or the saints, or that
they can make requests as mediators. Neither practice is biblical. " Prayer is an act of
worship . When we pray to God , we are recognizing that we need His help. By directing our prayers
to someone else other than God , we are robbing God of the glory that belongs to Him alone
Another way Catholics " venerate" Mary and the saints is by creating statues and pictures
of them . Many Catholics use images of Mary or the saints as " lucky charms ." Any cursory
reading of the Bible will reveal that this practice is a clear act of idolatry ( Exodus
20:4-6 , 1 Corinthians 12:12, 1 John 5:21). Rubbing rosary beads is idolatry . Lighting
candles or candles before a statue or image of a saint or Mary is idolatry. Burying a
statue of José hoping to sell your home (and a myriad of Catholic practices ) is idolatry.
The terminology is not important. Whether you practice is described as "worship" or
" veneration " or any other term, the problem is the same. Whenever you attach to someone
else something that belongs to God is idolatry. Nowhere in the Bible are taught to revere,
pray , rely on , or "worship " someone other than God . We must worship God alone . The
glory , praise and honor belong to God alone. Only God is worthy of " ... glory and honor
and power ... " (Revelation 4:11). Only God is worthy to receive our worship, adoration
and praise ( Nehemiah 9:6 , Revelation 15:4 ) .
