No teacher, no matter how difficult their current working conditions may be, wants to
shortchange the kids in his or her classroom.
We're here for the kids.
But there are so many more homeless students entering schools now. Many teachers will be
facing this issue who've never had to deal with it before.
This action center will help teachers get homeless kids what they need.
After recognizing which students need help and getting them support services, it really
comes down to individualizing our teaching approaches and making a few classroom accommodations.
It's so hard to come to school ready to learn if you're sleeping on the floor, sharing the
bathroom with a bunch of other people, or not getting enough to eat.
Teachers can really counteract those factors if they're given some guidance and a few tools
to use.
Schools are for everyone, and the Teachers' Homeless Student Action Center is all about
fulfilling the promise of public education. I don't want any kid who needs the benefit
of education to be left behind.
