>>URBAN MOM: So Lisa, another one of our Urban Mom bloggers was wondering,
“Which was the most popular Happy Meal toy of all time?”
>> LISA: Oh my gosh.
There’s been so many really great programs,
but you might remember Teenie Beanie Babies,
or Beanie Babies?
>> URBAN MOM: Yeah, absolutely.
>> LISA: When they had hit...
So, that was another one of those that we talked about,
you know, watching trends and fads
and when they’re hitting the marketplace.
And at the time of our promotions, we did several of them,
but we hit it right at the peak --
when all the kids and adults and moms
were all collecting Teenie Beanie Babies.
So that still goes down in history
as one of the most popular toys that we’ve ever launched.
>> URBAN MOM: Well, I noticed that, I mean, they did the Build-a-Bear.
>> LISA: Yes!
>> URBAN MOM: That was another follow-up to that, where it hit right at…
>> LISA: …Right at the right time.
And we tried to give kids the essence of what Build-a-Bear was all about,
with the dressable clothing,
so that we could replicate what was so popular about it at retail
in our Happy Meal offer.
>> URBAN MOM: And it was great, because my daughter used it as its baby.
>> LISA: Right, right!
>> URBAN MOM: So they dressed the baby.
>> LISA: That was something that we found with the Teenie Beanie Babies, actually:
that if you had the retail Beanie Baby,
you wanted to come in and collect the miniature version,
so you could display them side-by-side,
play with them side-by-side --
kind of as mom-child, a little bit.
>> URBAN MOM: Well -- and this is the most saddest part --
I was more excited than my daughter when I opened up –
I have a Build-a-Bear -- when I opened it up, and it was like,
“Oh! I got mine! I got mine!”
>> LISA: It’s the same one! Right, right. Yeah, yeah!
>> URBAN MOM: It’s the same one or whatever, so, yeah.
I’m sure we still have those ones, for sure.
>> LISA: It’s something that we find consumers do hold on to,
when it’s that much of value.
>> URBAN MOM: Exactly.
