Lara>> Hi my name’s Lara Williams
I started working for Edinburgh University Students’ Association
in September 2010
I was employed as a front of house team member
and I’m now front of house team leader
for the festival.
You are working with other students and
it can be really good banter
it’s really good fun.
But also you see drinking from the other side
So sometimes you do think about your own actions
It definitely helps when you’re out on town
t helps you to deal with people
when you are drinking
because you’re used to dealing with other drunk people.
Working at the festival is different to work during term time
because it’s so much busier
situations are completely different
you’re not just dealing with
the general student public
you’re dealing with the elderly, children, people with disabilities
you are thrown into the deep end
and it’s sort of a sink or swim situation
but if you can handle it it’s great
you really do grow from it
It helps you become more adaptable because you have to change to each different situation
and you have to take each as it comes.
Every day is different
it always brings a new surprise
and it’s great fun.
