Hi, I'm Rene Millman, Editor of Absolute Gadget, and today I'll be talking about the Xbox 360.
In this video, we'll be showing you how to connect your Xbox Live with a modem. Now,
if you don't have broadband and you don't have a wireless router, then the only way
you're going to use - get onto Xbox Live is via a modem.
And the modem is going to have to be connected to a computer, something like a laptop or
a desktop. Basically, you connect via your Ethernet port on back of your Xbox 360 to
the Ethernet port, here on your computer. When you use a cable, you can't use an ordinary
Ethernet cable, it has to be a crossover cable, otherwise the two won't talk to each other.
Next thing you need is what's called a DHCP server on your laptop. That will assign what's
called an IP address to your Xbox 360, and will pass information between your Xbox and
the internet, via the computer. Once you got that setup, you connect a modem lead to the
modem port of your computer, and then you will then setup the internet via the modem,
using the settings provided to you by your ISP.
And you can test your settings by going into System Settings under My Xbox. Select A. Go
down that - Network Settings.
And test your Xbox Live connection by pressing that button. And that's how you connect to
Xbox Live, with a modem. .
