"Forrest Gump " is
a 1994 film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks, the duration of 137 minutes.
Loosely based on the novel by Winston Groom in 1985 , the film tells the intense life
of Forrest Gump , a man with a lower than normal cognitive development , born in the
United States of America in the mid- forties and , thanks to a series of coincidences favorable
, direct witness to major events in American history.
The film spans of about thirty years of U.S. history : Forrest, sitting on a bench begins
to tell his own story , which began when he was a child , and ends approximately in 1982
, knowing many famous people and he became himself famous , but not really make realize
how all this was extraordinary.
Forrest Gump was received very positively by critics and the public use , dominating
the Oscars in 1995 , bringing home six statuettes .
The film also had a significant impact on popular culture . Phrases such as "Run, Forrest
, run " have become part of everyday language . The same Tom Hanks readapted as a line from
the character in his speech at the Oscars .
Forrest Gump grossed nearly $ 680 million worldwide .
Despite its popularity , the reception of the film was not everywhere positive . Some
critics noted that the success of Forrest result from doing what he is told by others,
and without ever having its own initiative , in contrast to the strong and independent
character of Jenny that touches the bottom several times (drugs, prostitution ) . In
fact, Jenny, who should be one of the two strong and "normal" , the one that stands
next to Forrest and helps him , is instead that most of all he needs your help. Others,
however , capture the figure of Forrest total opening and enthusiastic in everything that
happens around him , opening that is continuous opportunity to make choices in life, always
brought to the extreme. This message "existential" ends to characterize the entire film. However,
after the release of the movie, Forrest Gump , became a real phenomenon. For example, the
phrases " Stupid is as stupid does " and " Life is like a box of chocolates : you never know
what you're gonna get " became famous .

personal considerations
It 'difficult to like a movie arrives in an absolute way , I'm usually always some point
of criticism . Forrest Gump instead he succeeded. It ' a successful movie , very beautiful,
delicate , not at all boring, never vulgar , with a good balance between scenes spirits
and touching scenes . The plot is original , which is not very common in the filmography
of the last 20 years, and the idea of race as a metaphor for life and processing of pain
is simply brilliant . Sure, it's an American film and as such may appear to our eyes tinged
with the colors of "Made in USA" : a certain gooders , the cult of success, some trademark
of too much here and there ... But here I found them much less disturbing than in other
films, perhaps also thanks to the "light" yet fierce criticism of the war and violence
, for the richness of the unspoken, the consistency in which moral values and respect of
' individual come to the surface in almost every scene ... Great interpretations of those
Sinise and Hanks all: never over the top , whereas, under the circumstances , it was very easy
to slip into bad taste or exaggeration . A great movie , worth seeing again and again.
Forrest Gump , the title of the film and also the name and surname of the protagonist. Zemeckis
wanted to bring back on the screen what is life, that is childhood , growth, the different
emotions (fear , joy , pride , shyness , sadness ), but it did more : he wanted to bring through
a man like Forrest Gump . Certainly not one as the other , as his way of talking and reasoning
. But you can not define a "dumb " because he simply thinks so simple and natural, without
being on the problems lying or ashamed of certain things. He does not worry about defending
his beloved people even stronger than he , has no problem to show his backside to the public,
has no problem when he decides to run : he runs and nothing else, without asking why
more intimate , without thinking about what others may think , without thinking about
where it will go . And you can define perhaps a little ' "stupid" , only when it is at war
in Vietnam , and is not aware of the situation. But why, in the scene where Forrest says his
opinion on the war , his speech is not heard ? Why Zemeckis wanted to " overshadow " his
thinking ? Why everyone is asking , and it is actually in the form of metaphor , the
question is : . The search for a reason that is perhaps beyond human comprehension , which
can not be revealed because it is the mystery of life. Because all we imagine Forrest as
a righteous person , who believes the war a horrible thing ? It may well have said things
in favor of the war , why not? But the truth you do not know actually , because it specifically
to summarize the aura of mystery of life and of the world, Zemeckis wanted it , exactly,
" obscure " . And anyway, all the themes of Forrest Gump , are not dealt with accuser
or consecrating , but only to represent the reality of the facts. The war fought by Forrest
is not an excuse to get into the theme of war and show how this is unfair , but because
it is the reality of the facts. All men of the age of Forrest , at the time of the Vietnam
War , they were sent on a mission on the battlefield , and then as the film shows the life of a
person who lived in those years , a part of the film is dedicated to logically this war.
As for a few other films , this film does not show the war as an unjust thing , but
the show as it is. Other reference to the nature that surrounds us.
This review is dedicated to a dear friend of ours who helped us greatly both with his
graphic skills , of which we are immensely grateful , both for the warm moral support
never failed .
Thanks David!
