This slide is of the blood
The current magnification is 1000 X total magnification
What we are looking for are the various components of blood
Now in this view you can see all the components of blood
But let's zoom in to get a little better view of it
If we zoom in and move around a little bit
We will notice that this structure right here that you can see the nuclei in
That structure is a white blood cell or a leukocyte
These smaller purple dots or fragments
Those are going to be platelets
Or thrombocytes
And these red discs that you see all throughout, which is a majority of this view
Each one of these discs is going to be a red blood cell or erythrocyte
Now if you look at this white blood cell here
And compare it to the one that's lower down, here
You'll notice they're different
This particular white blood here is gonna be a lymphocyte
A lymphocyte is one of the five different types
Of white blood cells or leukocytes
So be careful, lymphocyte here is an actual type of white blood cell
While leukocyte is the general term for all white blood cells
If we go back to the other one
You're gonna notice the nucleus has a different shape to it
This one is gonna be a monocyte
So this is a monocyte, one of the five white blood cells or leukocytes
So if you zoom back out
You can see all of the parts of the blood
The white blood cells
You happen to see two of them here
The red blood cells
The little dots are the platelets
And all the white area, all this space in between all the cells
Is gonna be the plasma
The liquid portion of your blood
