I'm Courtney Sale and I'm a third year MFA director.
And I am directing the inaugural production of 360 Round Dance by Professor Steven Dietz.
360 Round Dance is a modernization and an adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde.
Which was a play written in the early 1900's that deals with, told through ten dialogues,
that deals with pursuits of desire.
What attracts me to this particular structure,
which I think is a non-traditional play structure.
We're not dealing with a restitilian drama here.
You're not gonna come and you're not gonna track a person all the way through the story.
What you're gonna track is a certain set of circumstances and it has a particular emotional terrain that I'm interested in pursuing as an artist.
I also find that with the particular structure of 360 Round Dance and both La Ronde,
there's a certain democracy that happens in the theatre.
Each character gets equal time. Each gender gets equal time.
And the powers and the allegiances are constantly shifting and changing and that's something that's really thrilling to me
because I think that's something we often don't see when we go to the theatre.
