My project is a non-profit I started called Hawaii's Future Isn't Hungry
and I started this in June of 2010.
When I was twelve-years-old
and Hawaii's Future Isn't Hungry focuses on helping Hawaii's youth
but we also help to feed the hungry and the homeless.
As well as we have branched out to
help other causes as well
such as helping out the Japan Tsunami,
raising money for malaria nets for families in Africa,
collecting books for schools all across the world
such as Nepal, Cambodia, Gambia,
and across the US as well as in our own community
as well as beach cleanups.
What motivated me to get involved with this project was
my grandma became homeless when I was 8 years old
and seeing her have to go to a homeless shelter
was really heartbreaking for me
so I started with the goal of $10,000
and so far organization has raised over $518,000.
Turn your passions into doing something for others
because you can turn whatever passion
you have whether it's sports, whether it's music
whether it's writing, whether its speaking.
You can do whatever you want
and just turn that into helping others in doing something good.
