Annyeong, asiafans! Once again there's HANDS UP K-POP in da house!
This time we decided to blow your mind with information about two groups that used to be one.
In fact, we'll talk about DBSK and JYJ and their first albums after the break up.
DBSK (also known as TVXQ) is a group that consisted of 5 members up till 2010.
U-Know Yunho, Hero Jaejoong, Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and Max Changmin.
In 2010 DBSK suspend their activities as a 5-member group in Japan and later on its 3 members (Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu) sue SM Enterteinment and form a new group called JYJ.
Wow-wow-wow! Do you expect me to talk about the lawsuit? Look, it's a sore subject to Cassies. I think it's not the right place and...
Speak!
Well, OK.
If... If you insist...
All in all, the reason was an unfair contract for 13 years and way too low and unfair CD sales' dividends.
At that time, Yunho and Changmin stayed with SM Ent. and continued their activities as a duo.
Court, in the end, adjudged trio JYJ as winners of this case. SM, of course, didn't agree with it at all.
To make it short, everybody sue each other. Even the official DBSK' fan-club sued SM for cancelling 'SM Town 2010'.
So, the main trend 2010 in Korea seems to be - total lawsuits! To my mind, it all looked like this...
Wow-wow-wow, guys, hold on a second.
Ok, go on!
You can't fight the fact, that following Han Geng, JYJ paid audience's attention to slavish contracts in SM.
All in all, it's all left in the past now and we strongly hope to see JYJ on public TV.
But let's travel back in time, when both groups learned how to walk on their own over again.
JYJ showed themselves first.
On the 12th of October, 2010 they released their first english album - 'The beginning'. Kanye West has a direct connection with its creation.
As the result - good sales' numbers, a huge Asia tour and even some gigs in the US, which, in fact, had to be free cos' of some visa issues.
DBSK, as a duo, make a comeback on January 5th, 2011 with the album called 'Keep your head down'.
And then they go further on the beaten track: a bit of powerful song and choreo, a bit of lyric in 'Before U Go', which, in fact, I like ven more than 'Keep your head down'.
And, of course, then goes Japanese promotions, to secure the result.
By the way, many complained the title of the song is related to JYJ. It's up to you, whether it's true or not. But you can find a practice-video of a song 'Maximum', where all 5 of them sing it.
So, maybe this album has been prepearing even before the break up?..
All the way from 2003 to 2008, starting with 'Hug'...
and up till 'MIrotic'...
these guys were blowing the stage up with their dances.
Undoubtedly, we can say that all 5 of them are talented vocalists and we can't say that one did it better than the others... They did it differently.
As we've already mentioned, 'The beginning' is an english album, which means it targets the widest audience.
We can even recollect one great man's quote... 'I must conquer thу world!'
So, here goes my main problem with this album... They try their best to be American...
Am I the only one who listens k-pop to enjoy that unrepeatable atmosphere that Korean Pop music has?!
- Why? - Back to the topic.
The title song - 'Ayyy Girl' - is one of those songs, that will forever play in your head after the first listen.
The album also includes lyric songs, which music was written by JYJ' members themselves. Jaejoong's 'Still in love', 'I Love You' is written by Yoochun and 'I can soar', respectively, by Junsu. Great work on the album!
But my personal choice is 'Be My Girl'. Album's special edition includes its remix and on the concerts all the fans usually start a flash-mob to it.
During the group's hiatus Yunho and Changmin, most likely, learned how to work as a duo.
Changmin gets high notes, Yunho gets the lowest. And I'm just admiring Changmin!
Did you hear it?
Chngmin is just ideal to describe all of my positive emotions! For example, Koreans come to your town!
Get an A at school or at the university...
Got enough sleep...
Eating awesome pizza...
New episode of Hands Up, K-POP is released...
As for the album itself... it seemed to me a bit inharmonious. There's no sorta common atmosphere among songs.
Cos' album is like a big story, where songs are its parts. But even with this fact I have loads of favourite songs from this album.
I think all the cassies nitced the similarities between 'Keep your head down' and 'Hey!' The song is really powerful.
It even brings some nostalgia... But my most favourite is, of course, 'Before U Go'.
Necesseraly! Right now, go and listen to all of the album' songs! Now, let's go ahead with the videos!
I love JYJ with all my heart, but even I was a bit confused, whatching this video...
And if the guys wanted to target American market, why not show the video to my ignorant k-pop friends?! That was a mistake!
- Hey, whatta you watching? - JYJ, 'Ayyy Girl'.
Why the red-haired one is flatten all over the screen? Look! Look! The black guy's face is all....
Slow-motion scenes, and those, where they float among the clouds look effectively. Make-up, countless number of looks? Superb! But computer graphics...
Doing computer graphics? Do it right! Yeah, it's over-costly and your expectations and reality, sometimes, punch you straight in the face. We in Hands up, K-pop know it for sure!
The matrix-effect brought the viewers to delight, but now k-popers want more!
Well, as for 'Keep your head down'
it has a traditional concept for modern k-pop. And something tells me that both groups had the same-***-stylist.
A grown-up man shouldn't look like this! Or like this... What the hell is that?!
If you're long enough in k-pop movement you understand the rules: the more shocking - the better! I'm voting for Korean idols wearing as little clothes, as possible. Ha!
Or not wearing it at all...
Raise your hand, if you agree!
Oooow, how we love to discuss SM's music videos!
Besides the basic format: 2-3 common shots, solo and rarely some plot, 'Keep your head down' shows osme progress. Some additional sets and images.
In the end, ironicly, JYJ and HoMins have a lot of common in their MVs.
Both videos have so-so visual effects... 'Ayyy girl' is a bit worse, though... Both with weird costumes, and there are no girl-leads in it!
Dear friends, we've overcame the barrier of 10 episodes of 'Hands Up, K-pop'
Let's give a big hand to each other!
Thanks to those resistant viewers and true fans of the show, who watched it till the end.
Nadezda and vasily from Urypinsk, we love you loads!
Leave a comment here on youtube when have you started listening to JYJ, DBSk or HoMins? And what do you think about the lawsuit madness and holy-wars?

DBSK (also known as TVXQ) is a group that consisted of 10 members! 10 members...
Later on, 3 members Jaejong, Yoochun and Junson... Junson?
Why?!
Later on, 3 members Jaejong, Yoochun and Junson...
The new idol-group 'Junson!'
- What? No, not like this... - This is horr...llow...Hoollow?
OMG, what an idiot. Hollow! What hollow?
