Hello my name is Peter. I am a designer
and I love to create things from paper.
Today I want to show you,
how you can create a three-dimensional
structure from a single sheet of paper.
Before I explain this complex model,
please let me show you some basics.
This is the basic form for every
3D design:
A simple sheet of paper with the fold.
If you cut the paper here and here
and push the middle into the other
direction,
you get a simple 3D element with mountain folds
and valley folds at the same time.
If you create more complex structures,
the paper is much more difficult to fold.
I recommend, that you crease all folding lines
with an empty ball pen.
This makes the paper a little weaker, so it
is easier to fold along the correct lines.
Cut all blue lines with a knife.
Use a ruler and a cutting mat.
To get a more complex design,
I mirrored the basic pattern.
You can repeat this pattern in a row
as many times as you like.
in this case you may want to invert the
pattern,
which means that every mountain fold
turns into a valley fold.
I repeated the basic design two times,
three times
and four times.
This pattern is so very complex,
that I recommend, that you scale it up.
Let me show you something.
I scaled it up to 500%
of the original drawing and
created a folding screen from
big sheets of cardboard.
To make it sturdy enough, I had to add
two wodden supports.
Now it's your turn!
