The teaching has been first class. It's been excellent.
Aston Law's really personal and I think that's very unique to Aston University.
I was unsure if I wanted to do law or I wanted to do business. This was the combination of both...and I thought "perfect".
I think graduating now, with all our law teachers around, has just been amazing.
Of course, as a tutor and senior lecturer at Aston Law, I'm immensely proud
of everything our students have achieved today. It's a lovely day, it's their graduation
and it's nice to see a couple of first class students. Our first "firsts"
since we've been running Aston Law for the last few years here.
The Aston Law experience has been great. We've had so many opportunities that
you may not have had if you'd gone elsewhere.
The teachers - they were the best part. The campus - I lived in a student accommodation. Best years of my life.
Oh I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'd recommend it to anybody else.
They study law in its commercial setting, in its corporate setting
so as well as graduating in law and having obviously a conventional law degree,
they also have the added bonus of a - sort of - rich commercial experience
so they come away really very much aware of the business world and the
business environment in which law frequently and often operates.
And if you've got a passion for business and law, then its...it's fantastic for that,
I'm feel a little bit like a mother hen, having watched them over the last
three to four years, as they've developed. They've been taught by experts in the field of
business and also experts in the field of law, and that's quite an unusual combination.
Because we're quite a small group, we actually
try to look after the student in a holistic way, in a pastoral way.
It's a very hands-on approach, we're very accessible.
They're there to help you with whatever questions you've got, whatever advice you need, whatever guidance you need,
not just right now but even after graduation.
We definitely have great memories from all the events that we've had,
all the opportunities and the doors that they've opened for us, and obviously good friends.
So while the academic side's always interesting, it's all the extra bits I think
that really makes the highlight and experience at Aston.
We've taught them for three, four years, you get to know them extremely well and you see them
grow with the programme, you see them flourish. It's lovely on a day like today when they've
collected the fruits of their labours.
Well their potential is enormous and I think they've got determination anyway
but the key thing is to stick at what you want to do and you will succeed, if you persevere.
Studying here was a lovely experience, everybody's friendly, I feel at home here now.
And I'll be going back for the fourth and final year in October and will hopefully be graduating next year.
I plan to do a Masters after this in shipping law. Yeah, so yeah - I'm looking forward to it.
Hopefully practicing employment law as a solicitor here in Birmingham.
Well hopefully I'll have qualified with Pinsent Masons and on my way up to Associate level but we will see.
As a senior associate of a top international law firm. Don't know what part of the world because
literally the world's your oyster once you're into this profession.
Many of them have got great opportunities already and
I'm sure that they'll do brilliantly in their future careers.
