Hi there, I am Ken Swain, Managing Director of EON Reality in the UK.
We have had a good few days here showing all the different demonstrations
from Floristry through to Aeronautical Engineering,
and it has gone really well.
We have also done the Augmented Reality pieces
which have been located at the competition sites around the centre.
And I think they have contributed to the overall awareness and effectiveness,
letting the visitors understand what the competition is all about.
Hi, I am Andy Pengelly. I am the training manager for Skill 25, WorldSkills UK Joinery.
I have been here at The Skills Show this week technically observing the Competition
and it has been great that schoolchildren and colleges have been able to see virtually
what the competitors are working towards.
When they see the project in its completed flat state, as you see behind me
[visitors] don't always understand how it goes together.
So when you see the augmented project on the tablet computer it is great
because they can take it apart, they can zoom in,
they can look at the joint details, the components,
how it all goes together and the assembly of it.
It means they can get a lot better understanding of the complexity of the detail,
they can really drill down into that project
and they can see first hand just how difficult it is to produce this kind of work.
Fantastic product, we have had some really good feedback
and everybody is really excited about it and cannot wait to see the next stage
and how it gets further developed from here. It's superb!
Hi, my name is Luke Greenway and I am an ex-competitor at The Skills Show.
I have been volunteering this year as a Skills interpreter for the last few days:
showing people this 3D Engine app which they have been interacting with.
I think it has been really successful.
It is great to show the principles of a jet engine in a simple way
so that people can really interact, touch and enjoy.
I think that it has been a great success.
It ties up nicely with talking about the actual Competition that is going on
to have something practical here to show people a little bit of theory.
It is great for people to take the card away with them and download the app on their phone.
That has been a big success, and people have been really enjoying that.
Hi, my name is Sarah Cunningham.
I am a director for the British Florist Association, and also a [Competition] Judge.
We are looking today at The Skills Show Floristry event
and I have been asked to comment also on the Icube and how it works for us.
It is an amazing tool; I had great fun in the pod itself
working out how to use three-dimensional designs and walking through a field of flowers,
being told exactly how the flowers were made up.
It would be a great tool for training and teaching.
Very, very good. Amazing.
It has added to the competition in as much as people can learn what the flowers are,
as it is obviously very difficult to explain, while they are competing, what [Competitors] are using.
But by using that tool, [visitors] can go along, change the colours of flowers,
and also find out exactly how a flower is made up.
We need you to bring that tool to some of our shows! That is what we need.
And then people can get a more hands-on approach to flowers.
Even though it is three-dimensional, not the real thing,
it really works as a tool -- very clever!
Hi, I am Paul Dodds. I am lead Judge for SkillPLUMB at The Skills Show.
This week has been a brilliant week, especially with the EON development:
the 3D Reality and the Augmented Reality
has certainly had a lot of interest from WorldSkills members
and from some entrepreneurs: Theo Paphitis and people like that.
So it has been a brilliant week.
The Augmented Reality has certainly helped in encouraging people
to see the link between Plumbing, Plumbing Education,
and what we have been doing [at the Competition] this week.
[Visitors] have been able to see inside valves, and things like that.
So it has been excellent in terms of that,
and I know people are going to go away from here
and use it in their teaching in the coming weeks.
It has been a fantastic few days where we have seen young people,
from four years old and upwards,
engaging with technology, learning, and looking at new skills.
We think this technology has really illustrated a lot,
and our stand has been crowded from opening on day 1 to closing on day 3.
So great job!
