Apple held its much-anticipated unveiling Tuesday. So what surprises were presented?
Not many. It seems the majority of major rumors and industry guesses in the past few months
were just about spot on.
We'll start with the 5C — what the "C" stands for, that's still anyone's guess. But cheaper
or colorful could be possible. As previously guessed the 5C will be made of polycarbonate
— "beautifully, unapologetically plastic." (Via Engadget)
And it comes in a variety of colors, including green, gray, light blue, peach and yellow
— just as speculated. (Via 9to5Mac)
"A cheaper iPhone would be great, it would allow Apple to set into the growing middle
and low end mobile market. Opening up a whole new consumer base for them and therefore making
them more money." (Via Techradar)
So lets break down what else the 5C is equipped with. When it really comes down to it the
guts are actually not much different from the iPhone 5.
The size is the same 4-inch retina display. It will have an A6 processor which will help
with speed. It also includes an 8MP camera, LTE, dual-band wifi and longer battery life.

And yes, of course it will be cheaper... ish. Here's how the prices layout.
16 gig — $99
32 gig — $199
And the cases, which come in a bounty of funky colors, cost $29 each. (Via Apple)
Ultimately the iPhone 5C will completely replace the 5 — which will eventually stop being
manufactured by Apple.
Up next: iOS 7, which will be available for every generation down to the 4 starting September
18. (Via ABC)
"The design has been completely overhauled. Everything is cleaner and fresher looking.
Now you can just swipe up and you have a whole clean panel of control. Multitasking, you'll
now get a preview of the app when you double tap on the home button." (Via ABC)
The camera feature on iOS 7 is also a little different — it includes filters, similar
to instagram. Also, Siri will get a new voice and brain — which means she can do a lot
cooler things like send Tweets. (Via Apple)
And now, drum roll, the brand spankin new iPhone 5S. So how different were the rumors
compared to the now known reality? Again— not that much.
Apple calls the 5S "forward thinking," and its 64-bit chip is proof — this thing will
be quick. (Via Apple)
The camera is also a huge selling point on this phone. With a 15% larger image sensor,
2.2 larger aperture and 33% increase in light sensitivity, Apple claims the new model will
produce some flawless photos.
So, basically that iPhone 5 camera you think is so great is about to be put to shame.
And while it's awesome that we'll see a more brag worthy camera, could Apple have slipped
by without the update? — CNET says, probably not.
"All of this is just catch up that they have to do in order to do to be competitive. It
will come off as amazing and new and new but this catch up and these are things that have
made those other cameras so fun to use."
So what about that home button? It's been at the forefront of speculation over new products
for months. And if you thought something extra special was coming like a fingerprint sensor...
you were so right.
Losing the square on the home button the iPhone will now be able to unlock with the touch
of your fingertip — same goes for buying items in the app store. Also, there's no longer
a swipe on the lock screen.
And incase you're leery about the whole fingerprint thing, Apple says they will never be stored
in the cloud or pass though the iPhone system. So how much damage will this do to your wallet?
64g $399
32g $299
16g $199. They will come in silver, gold and space grey.
The leather cases run about $39
All these newbies will be available in Apple stores September 20. You can preorder the
5C on the 13th. But as for the 5S, get ready to stand in line because there's no pre order
available.
