Hi welcome to my tool kit urm.. today what we are talking about is corrugated fasteners,
as you can see we’ve got a strip of galvanized corrugated fasteners there and like on our
other videos there you can see a single corrugated fastener taken off the strip. Now these come
in various leg lengths, if I turn this galvanized strip on its side you will be able to see
that one is fifteen mm, now there are three sizes they come in 9mm 12mm and 15mm there
and you can adjust the tools take what ever corrugated fastener. Now id like to show you
on this strip I don’t know if you can see it clearly there its actually coloured they’ve
got a red dye running along the strip of fasteners that is indicating that is the blunt side
of the fastener in other word this is the side that needs to be loaded in to the magazine
so that the driver strikes the blunt side of the fastener, conversely on the other side
this is the pointed side of the fastener. Now corrugated fasteners are used a lot as
you will see on the tool demonstration urm… on mitred joints, butt joints, for bringing
two pieces of wood together, you can drive a corrugated fastener from one side and then
the other and it will pull up the joints accordingly. If I bring up a fastener you can probably
see on there the fluted vanes of the fastener to pull the joint together, now although we
have different lengths of the fastener 9mm 12 and 15, the width of the fastener is constant
all the way through and that is 25mm one inch, so the crown of that fastener is 1 inch standard
and it’s the length of the fastener that varies. And again hopefully we’ve introduced
you a little bit more to corrugated fasteners and before I leave they are sometimes referred
to as wiggly nails it’s another terminology used in the trade but thanks for listening
and il see you again soon. www.mytoolkit.co.uk
