Selling a house isn't cheap, and it's really important that you understand what the
costs are upfront
so
there are three main categories, we have Realtor fees and commissions
transfer fees to the title company
and what I'll call miscellaneous costs paid by the seller
on behalf of the buyer
Okay, that varies over time as to what those customary or standard fees are
but it can include the appraisal and the home warranty. That's kind of standard right
now in Albuquerque
o, to give you an example, on a $100,000 house, it'll cost you
about $10,000 or 10% percent of the sales price to sell
That percentage goes down as the sales price goes up however, so on a $200,000
house
you're looking at more like eight and a half percent of the sales price
and on a $300,000 house it goes down a little bit
further to eight percent of the sales price
So don't forget this when you're trying to decide what the numbers look
like for you and whether right now might be the right time to sell, or not
