Hi! Welcome to earthslivingclay.com's YouTube channel.
Today I wanted to show you a fruit and veggie wash
that I make at home for my own fruits and vegetables.
You can buy those in the store
but you can also make your own.
This comes from Sophie Uliano's book "Gorgeously Green"
and I've been using it for several years. It's really simple. You take a cup of
purified water
and to that, you're going to add
a cup of
white vinegar
and white vinegar is very inexpensive
and has a lot of uses, including a veggie wash I'm going to show you here.
The next ingredient is good, old baking soda
sodium bicarbonate.
You take a tablespoon, and add this to the mixture
and you'll want to add it slowly
because there's going to be a reaction with the vinegar and the baking soda.
So you add a little bit at a time
so that it doesn't overflow. This is a four cup measuring cup, you can obviously do it in a bowl.
I recommend doing things in glass,
I just prefer glass over plastic.
And the way this veggie wash works is
you spray your fruits and vegetables
and leave it on there for
five to ten minutes
and after that, you will
then rinse the fruit and veggie wash off
with clean water
and you're good to go.
And then I just put it in a
spray bottle.
The last ingredient
so we've got a cup of white vinegar, a tablespoon of baking soda
is grapefruit seed extract. This is really an amazing
product from nature. And you can get it at a health food store
you can buy it online.
This bottle was about $18.99, it wasn't inexpensive
but I've had it a really long time. A little bit goes a long way, it'll last you a long time.
And so to my liquid, I'm going to add twenty drops
1, 2, 3...
The thing with the grapefruit seed extract is that it's very viscous, it's very thick, which is also part of the reason why a little bit goes a long way.
So there I've got my veggie wash, and as I mentioned I just put it in a spray bottle
and keep it on the shelf, and then any extras that I have I just keep in a glass jar and keep that in my
pantry as well.
So this way if you can't buy organic or you don't have organic
fruits and vegetables available to you,
this is a really inexpensive veggie wash that you can
make at home to clean your produce. Hope you find it useful, check back soon for more videos. Thanks for watching!
