Ali Gutali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunisia to the Russian Federation
Tunisia supports a peaceful resolution to the Syrian crisis.
We oppose external intervention, we do not support interference from outside.
We believe that military conflicts, military resolutions of conflicts,
military intervention will not help to resolve the Syrian crisis.
We fully agree with Russia that the Syrian crisis should be resolved through negotiations.
It is in the direction of negotiations that we need to look for a peaceful solution to regional conflicts,
particularly the Syrian crisis.
We are optimistic about the prospects for resolving the Syrian problem
and in particular about the initiative proposed by Russia and supported by the U.S.,
in order to extinguish the wick of the bomb, stop violence in Syria.
We welcome Russia's initiatives aimed at peacefully resolving the Syrian crisis,
in particular, the elimination of the Syrian chemical weapons.
We have welcomed this initiative, because it contributes to finding a peaceful solution to the Syrian problem in general.
We welcome efforts aimed at holding a national dialogue in Syria.
We hope, we have high hopes for the Geneva-2 conference and support its organization.
We hope that as a result of all these efforts peace will come to Syria
and it will begin building and restoring what has been destroyed, so that the whole region, not only Syria,
will be free from conflicts that do not benefit anyone, either in the region or in the rest of the world.
