Hi everody ! Today I'm going to present a video quite different
Because i'm going to present a photoshop tutorial A photoshop tutorial requested by a portuguese subscriber
So I will try to make this video as short and explicit as I can
Let's begin!
In this tutorial we are going to see how to put grass on buildings.
As i did on the speed art : ThelastofUs
At first , we will need 3 elements :
1: The picture of the building
2: A tree's picture You can easily find one on the internet
3: A leaf brush I'll try to put all this stuff on the description
Let's begin!
Import your building picture into photoshop
Ok! Then import the tree's picture
If you choose a long picture like me Just position the picture where you want to take the texture.
I'm going to use this portion of the image
Now you can rename your layers and create another one for the grass
Ok!
In this tutorial we are going to use : Clone stamp tool (shortcut : press S)
Then select the brush you want , (in the leaf brush)
Thanks to the Clone Stamp tool , we're going to duplicate the tree's texture on the new layer
Place your mouse on the texture area you want to duplicate Then press [Alt] and click to sample the area
Now go on the new layer ,
and start to draw
Normally you should see something like this
That's not what we want , so press (ctrl+z)
Then go to the menu : brush presets
Turn on : shape Dynamics and scattering
And adjust the settings as you wish
My settings are : 100-0-100-50-25 and 137-1-100
I recommend try several settings .
Now draw again
That's exactly what we want
That's exactly what we want
Now all you have to do is coloring the building :)
Choose a small thickness of brush and start coloring
It's up to you to place the grass.
What is interesting to do,is varying the type of brush and the thickness.
What is interesting to do,is varying the type of brush and the thickness.
5min later... We have almost finish
I covered the portion of the house i needed with the grass.
We used different brushes with different thickness.
What I did here is very rough .
Make a beautiful montage is not the purpose of this tutorial. It's just for teaching you my method.
Now I want to talk about the problems you may encounter.
For example , in this area You can see that the green is too bright compared to the green here
That's becasue of the sampling point we did at the beginning
This sampling point we made is fixed .
Each time you draw with the clone stamp tool the sampling point will be the same .
You have 2 solutions :
1: You are patient , and each time you want to draw with the clone stamp tool , you replace the sampling point .
So return to the tree's picture and press [alt] and click , X times .
2nd solution : Keep the same sampling point ,
Take a selection tool ,
and select an area you want to obscure.
Then go to Image/Adjustments/Hue&Saturation
and decrease the brightness just a little bit .
I could do the same thing to this area , but you get the technique !
I could do the same thing to this area , but you get the technique !
You can also decrease the brightness of the building :
Go to Image/Adjustments/Curves and push down the curve .
You can also use the Burn tool
It will help you create dirt on the walls of the building
Or you can use it to create shadows, it's up to you once again.
That's it ! I think now you are able to put grass on buildings
I hope this video will help you to understand my method .
I don't think this is the only way to have the same result. But this is how I personally proceed.
In the future , i'll try to make other tutorials that people use to ask me.
If you have any questions to ask ,write them in the commentaries or in Private messages
See you soon Bye Bye !
