Hi, I'm Harold Enger from Spring-Green, and today I want to talk to you about Nutsedge.
Now, nutsedge we kind of classify it as a grassy weed, but more so it's a grass-like
weed. It's not a true grass, it is a sedge. And, as you can see, you can pick it up fairly
easy. But, the problem with this grass is that on these roots, attached to the ground,
are little nutlets or bulbs that even though I pull this grass out and it looks like it's
gone, because there's tubers or bulbs left underground , it will keep on coming back.
And, it can be a real problem. You can see this here, here, here, here - it's scattered
throughout. And, it grows faster than your normal grasses and has this light green color.
So, it can be very unattractive in your lawn. So, what do you do for it? Well, you really
need to use a specialized material to get rid of nutsedge, because even if you were
to try pulling this out, you would be pulling it out and pulling it out and pulling it out
for years to come. And, you would never really get it under control. So, you would need to
use specialized products to control nutsedge that will not damage your surrounding grasses.
