DONNA KARAN: Any way you slice it, this life is chaotic. So unless we figure out how to
navigate the waters through chaos—ain't gonna happen.
[Music]
Cancer has been throughout my whole family on every single level—a death, would I say,
not even cancer. And after losing everybody, the potential of losing my husband was just
not acceptable. I realize what Stephan needed to care for him was a yogi to help him open
his lungs, allow his breath work, and the essential oils, and everything else. So it
was Stephan who not only started his artwork, and my business and everything else, also
started my path to Urban Zen. He had a work do reiki, aroma therapy, massage, nutrition,
acupuncture, Chinese medicines, he had it all which supported him being sick with lung
cancer and I realized, well, Stephan has it, what's everybody else gonna do? I felt there
was this person that was missing that had to look wholly at the person, the doctor,
the nurse, and the loved one and that's my Urban Zen integrative therapy program was
started. And what we do right now is we train people 500 hours in in-bed yoga, reiki, aroma
therapy, nutrition, and palliative care. The present for me is healthcare. Where is the
care in healthcare? The future is education. Mind, body, and spirit, holds the whole thing
together. Any way you slice it, this life is chaotic, so unless we figure out how to
navigate the waters through chaos—ain't gonna happen.
