What's up guys!
Welcome back to TastySauces.com
I am your host Billy D
and I have a huge treat for you guys. I'm doing a little taste test on Pork Barrel Barbecue Sauce.
Now, I first heard about this company back in 2009.
They were on the hit TV show Shark Tank
and that show was basically a launching point for this company.
They are relatively new, they started back in
2008 and
ever since that show they have really blown up big time as you can find them at Costco,
Whole Foods, Central Market... You can find them all over the place
Little did I know that later on down the road
I would actually have a website myself dedicated to all types of sauces so
i reached out to these guys and so saw you guys on Shark Tank and know you are really popular
I would like to do a taste test on you guys and could you send us some samples.
They were kind enough to send some so I am really excited about this taste test.
This is actually a Virginia-based company that even has a restaurant now so
pretty popular stuff
Now, i've got two flavors: their original and sweet varieties.
As far as ingredients in the Original, it has ketchup, vinegar, salt, onion powder,
spice,
apple cider vinegar, it's got some granulated sugar, spices,
granulated garlic, natural smoke flavoring, etc.
The good stuff about these sauces is that they are gluten free, no preservatives, no msg
It's all-natural so you know you are getting a quality product
Now smelling this one, this is their original flavor and I am getting a little
little smoky flavor. It
does not seem too sweet
but the apple cider vinegar might add a little sweet factor in there.
Let's see how this thing stacks up
Hints
of a bunch of different flavor profiles but I like that
It has got that little smoky taste
Not to sweet but just right for barbecue sauce
That is pretty good stuff.
As far as my overall five point scale on this one
I'll give 4 out of 5
Definitely a good rating and
as far as the spiciness scale, it has
got some spices in there so there is a little bit of heat, I'll give it a 2 on
that level
Pretty good stuff and definitely want to
look at that one if you are looking at barbecue sauces
now we've got their sweet variety over here
This has ketchup,
a little vinegar, salt, onion, and molasses which should add a nice little sweetness to it.
It also has some natural smoke flavoring and a little distilled vinegar in it.
Yeah, it smells kind of like the other stuff but they have added in a little bit of sweetness to it.
the consistency on this stuff is pretty good
Not to thick, not too thin.
It has got that dark rich brown color
Really sweet and it has got that nice smoke flavor in there too were there too
It's pretty good stuff
That's really good.
If I had to pick between the two of them
i do like the sweet stuff a little bit more
so I am leaning a little bit more towards this one.
I would give this one a 4.5 out of 5 on my personal preference scale.
As far as the spicy/heat index scale,
it's sweet so there is really not much heat to it.
Definitely good stuff
If you guys haven't heard of Pork Barrel BBQ you definitely want to go check them out.
They got some high quality products
Let me know what you guys think if you have tried them out
and don't forget to stay tuned to our next episode.
