Hi! I’m Kerri Hernandez I’m here today on expertvillage.com, here at Cynergy Dance
Studio where you can find us at www.cynergydance.com, I’m here to talk to you today about hair
braiding different types, do's and don’ts and the ways to do that. The next thing we’re
going to do is a fishtail braid I am going to comb through this braid or through the
ponytail more first so that I have hardly any scenario to work against and also make
sure that you add hairspray to the hair with a fine mist of an aerosol spray works the
best that way the hairspray dries faster. With a fishtail strand you start with two
sections and what you’re going to do is you’re going to separate those two and you’re
going to want to start take some hair from the side. You can make it thicker or thinner
I try to do it with little pieces cause then it tends to make the braid look prettier.
Cross it over that section and grab it into the next one and the left, take a little strand
from the left and separate it, cross it over and connect it with the right and it continues
all the way down, so we’ll just go over that a couple of times till you get the hang
of it. Take a section from the right, separate it, cross it over, grab it on the left side,
take a section from the left, separate it, cross it over and connect it with the right,
another time take from the right, cross over, connect it in the left and just continue going
down all the way and hold it very tight so that your hair doesn’t slip out cause you’ll
find that you’ll have very loose pieces. I’m keeping firm pressure with this thumb
here in the middle. That’ll help you hold your place in your braid and right here this
thumb is holding it firm, now this one is switching over, it is a lot easier doing somebody’s
else hair vs. doing your own so if you’re trying this on yourself it takes probably
three times longer to do this on yourself. Braiding is a great thing to know so you can
wear this for weddings or special occasions not everybody can do that so once you learn
how to braid you may have people requesting your services. I’ve been braiding hair since
I was in 7th grade I started with braiding my own, many hours of my arms killing myself
here, you see how pretty that is.
