It's almost like a real movie when visiting Kåre Halvorsen.
He build robots in a very small workshop in the basement.
His robots has become very popular worldwide.
It happends very often that I can't sleep when thinking about a robotics.
At the moment this hexapod robot isn't completely assembled.
It was this robot that started everything in 2007.
I shared several vids on youtube that became very popular.
I did also won a robot contest at Trossen Robotics.
Then Lynxmotion decided to make a copy of this robot.
We named the robot Phoenix.
One of his newer creation is very impressive!
I'm very often critical in how to design a robot.
At some moments I've been very close to trash the whole project,
when I've not been satisfied with the result.
So I had to do a lot of improvements to make it work.
This robot looks like an ant!
Thats correct, an ant was the ideal to this design.
There are many exciting creatures in the nature,
particularly the insects and the ants are very inspiring.
I called this robot A-Pod, an Ant inspired hexaPod.
It became very popular on YouTube.
After the first day it had around 100.000 viewers!
And today; almost 1 million viewers!
Is this an expensive hobby?
Yes, but it doesn't cost much more than other serious hobbies,
like semi-pro photography or RC model airplain.
In my case, I've been very lucky since companies in the USA has provided me with free parts.
The free parts also make it easier to get acknowledgment from my wife..
I've also added some custom pre-calculated sequences!
One phrase that covers it all after visiting Kåre Halvorsen:
Science Fiction.
And maybe a future that isn't that far away.
meet our new collaborator!
