Country-pop star Taylor Swift brought the festive spirit to London on Tuesday (November
6) as part of a promotional tour for her latest album 'RED'. The singer-songwriter wore a
long red dress and switched on the Christmas lights in front of screaming fans at Westfield
Shopping Centre in west London. She then rocked the stage and performed three songs, including
the hit single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" from the new album. Although
the 22-year-old was away from the United States on the day of a neck-and-neck presidential
election race, she made sure her voice was heard. SOUNDBITE: Singer-songwriter, Taylor
Swift, saying (English): "I did my absentee ballot, so I sent it in.... I try not to talk
too much about politics. I think it's important that everybody should, you know, exercise
their right to vote, but I don't think I should be telling people who to vote for." Swift's
latest album sold 1.2 million copies in its first week of release, making her the only
female singer to have seen two of her albums sell more than a million copies in the U.S.
in one week.
