Thank you for coming and thank you for joining us in celebrating this big announcement today
for our nearest corporate partner that will locate in our city, Gainesville. This company
will provide intern opportunities for our UF students and establish center here that
will provide IT services for their corporate enterprise. Join me in a wild recognition
for our nearest Gainesville corporate partner, Sears Holdings Corporation.
[clapping] Going back into our selection process, it
was really a number of things that lead us to Gainesville. First of all, it was the staff
and administration here that shared the same vision that we have around resources, around
building a talent pipeline, around innovation and entrepreneurship. We're really excited
to work with them on a continuous basis. The other pieces of course is Gainesville itself
in terms of the economic development that's going on here, that's really primed and ready
for a company like Sears to come in and take advantage of all the talent - the intelligent
talent that you have here. Not only does Gainesville have great talent,
we also have great infrastructure like the Innovation Square. This district was designed
in a partnership between UF, the local community and the state, and serves as a catalyst to
attract employers, students and graduates. You may have noticed a theme here. Organizations
and people working together as partners. UF, Santa Fe, the chamber of commerce, Innovation
Gainesville, city and state government and industry. Today's announcement is yet another
example that these partnerships are in fact working.
