Speaker 1: Now, our spotlight on new business where we look at business owners and entrepreneurs
who are really surviving and even thriving.
Bill Bentz: I never woke up one morning and thought, "Hey,
let's open a popcorn store," but a friend of mine is a franchise consultant and he brought
the opportunity to me. I looked into it. I liked some of the things that I saw. I liked
the history of the company, the fact that it's an all natural product. Once my wife
and I tried to product, once Julie and I tried it, we were all in. We just knew it would
be a success.
Adam Sinnard: The thing I was looking for was, like I had
said, I had a Cinnabon, I wanted to add something else to my mall that was in the same snack
category. We're seeing a lot of people straying away from Cinnabon because of the perceived
unhealthiness. That's where we found it. We found an article online actually, that was
comparing snacking trends and Doc Popcorn was in the article.
Michael and Paula Rahn: While we were on vacation one summer at the
Mall of America, we came across it and we absolutely loved the popcorn. We thought,
"What a great opportunity that it would be." We loved the simplicity of the whole business
model and really helping us through running our business. We're first time business owners,
so it's been challenging, but they've been very, very helpful for us.
Rob and Diana Bessett: I wanted something that was going to be simple,
but I could execute well on it. That was a perfect match with Doc Popcorn. Out of all
the things out there, they're either overly complicated or overly expensive or something
that nobody seems to want and everybody wants popcorn.
Paul Chen: What it's really the, the concept, is the simplicity and the clearness that really
attracts me.
Randy Shay: We like the simplicity, which is really the motto.
Susan Curatolo: Well, we love the idea of the healthy food,
it's a great snack and it makes people happy. It makes you feel good when you eat it.
Avery Geier: Doc Popcorn, the thing that really attracted
us, was it was a simple business model. More importantly, it was a culturally [inaudible

that loves to smile, love to laugh and we love making people feel good. How can you
not feel good when you have popcorn? Honestly, they go together.
Adam Sinnard: It's far exceeded any of our expectations.
We went into it with a number in mind and we are at least 15% over that already. I really
expect the holidays to be huge.
Bill Bentz: We were able to ... we've never missed a payroll.
We were able to take a paycheck from day one.
Paul Chen: We've been open over three weeks. In every aspect, it meets my expectation.
Barry and Patty McLean: Business has being going very well. It's a
little different adventure for us because neither one of us have a background in business.
It's been going well, we're growing. We're on our second location, very excited about
it.
Michael and Paula Rahn: Business has being going fantastic. It's really
exceeded our expectations so far. Weekends are very, very busy and even weekdays. What've
we expected, we're probably doing at least probably 30% more than what we expected. It's
been going awesome.
