So if you are a busy individual and you don't have time to portion out all your food, your
goal is to loose weight or you just want to control your portion sizes. A great way to
do that is through learning your hunger and fullness and sensations. Now many of my clients
do spend a couple of days learning on how to do this but I'm just going to give you
the "just" of it today. When you sit down to eat a meal or if you want to have a variety
of foods but you want to make sure you sit down to eat that you are eating because you're
hungry. You want to nurture your body for that reason and of course you want to stop
when you are full. You have to remember that we do not get signals to our brain to tell
us that we are full until ten minutes after we eaten protein and carbohydrates and twenty
minutes after we have eaten fat. So we have eaten a variety of foods it could potentially
be twenty minutes before we even now that we're full. You want to slow down and you
want to make sure that you are eating a variety of foods and spend some time with your dietitian
talking about how do you learn hunger and fullness sensations really are.
