New Student registration on TurnItIn.com
This is for first time registration at TurnItIn.com. If you already have an account, and just need
to add another class, that is covered towards the end of this video.
Creating a student account on TurnItIn.com is fairly simple, but before we begin there
are two things you need from your teacher: 1. The Class ID number, which should be 7
digits in length. 2. The Enrolment password. Pay attention to
capitalization. With this information, it's time to do the
enrolment.
Go to TurnItIn.com's website, and toward the top right of the page click on Create Account.
Look toward the bottom of the gray box and click on Student, this takes you to the Create
a New Student Account page.
Enter the following information: Class ID, the number your teacher gave you.
Class enrolment password, be sure to capitalize exactly as you were told.
Your first name, generally as it is listed on your school forms.
Your last name. Under Display names as, choose an option,
or just leave it at the default setting of First name, Last name.
Enter your email address. This is how you reset your password in case you have a problem
logging in at some point in the future. Create a password. Just like the enrolment
password, capitalization matters. Then repeat the password entry.
Select a secret question. This is also used for resetting your password. Choose a question
that others are not likely to know the answer to, and that you can remember. Of the choices
offered, two that I would avoid are your mother's maiden name, and the ending digits of your
Social Security Number. Select a question, and enter your answer.
Now you should read through the User Agreement. If you don't agree,
click on I Disagree which will cancel the profile creation and delete your information. If you do agree to the terms
and conditions, click on I Agree -- Create Profile.
You have now created an account, and registered your first class. To add another class, from
the same teacher, a different teacher, or even a class at another school, click on the
tab labeled:
Enrol in a Class --
Again, we need the Class ID and enrolment password, just enter this information: Start off by entering the Class ID,
And the enrolment password. Pay attention to capitalization and click
Submit. If you make a mistake it will tell you that the password or the ID was incorrect.
Check your information, go back, enter your Class ID again, enter the password, pay attention
to the capitalization. Click Submit.
And if you get it right, it takes you back to the all classes screen and shows you the
classes you are currently enroled in.
How to submit work to these classes will be covered in the next video.
