hi larry king here with Oakdale hearing Aid company. I have something you need it know
before you buy a hearing aid.
people always ask me whether they should buy just one hearing aid or two.
it would seem, initially, that one hearing aid would save you a lot of money
but the first thing you need to know is whether you have a hearing loss on one
side or both sides.
If you have a hearing loss in just one ear that one herring aid is perfectly fine.
However, if you have a hearing loss on both sides
You are going to need to buy that second hearing aid.
Remember you hear with your brain and not your ears. The brian
is doing all of processing and the ears are just collecting sound
if you aid only one ear,
you're going to lose your ability to understand speech in a noisy environment.
It is very hard to select that one person that you want to hear amid all the other noise
without two ears.
you're also going to lose the ability to deter more sounds coming from
You are also going to lose the ability to determine where sounds are coming from.
One of the most important things you are going to lose is hearing on the side that you didn't aid.
because you have
turned things up orÉturned things down, because you have a hearing aid on one side,
now the opposite ear, the ear you didn't aid, is not longer getting input.
your brain really needs that input
to keep your brain active and understanding speech.
If i were to give you a simple word test today, with a hearing aid in your ear,
and again in six months
you would score much worse after six months in the ear that was unaided,
some of that, you would never be able to recover
so it's important to get that hearing instrument.
