Hi, I'm Savvas, the founder of Kicktone.
Kicktone makes it easy for bands to sell music to their fans, and for fans to share music
with their friends. We're like iTunes for independent music.
Traditional music platforms like iTunes and Spotify are fantastic for promoting music
produced by record labels, but independent bands get lost in the noise.
iTunes lacks good discovery tools, and independent music isn't often easy to find. To make matters
worse, Apple takes 30% of every album sold, and independent bands have to pay just to
list their music on iTunes.
And streaming revenue just isn't the solution: a band would need to be streamed more than
230,000 times on Spotify just to make minimum wage for one person, and that's outside of
the reach for the vast majority of bands.
So Kicktone puts distribution and revenue generation back into the hands of bands. We
make it super-easy to upload music to the platform -- it's so easy a drummer could do
it. Once a price is set, the album is online for anyone to stream and purchase. Payments
are made instantly through PayPal, with Kicktone retaining just a 15% cut.
Bands can embed their album on their own website, or on Facebook and Twitter. We give them access
to powerful analytics so they can see who's listening, and what they're listening to.
76% of people make music purchases based on a recommendation from a friend, so we make
it easy for listeners to share and recommend albums through social media.
Since our launch on October the 1st, more than one thousand bands have joined Kicktone,
and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. And it's not just that we make it easy. It's
not just that they like us. They're proud to be part of a movement.
Kicktone is changing the way independent bands sell their music online. We're bridging the
gap between fans and bands.
