Bram Vermeulen took a small camera to look for those who benefit from the crisis
Crisis? What Crisis?
The richest businessman in Zimbabwe, Phillip Chiangwa, sees no problem whatsoever.
For this former gardener the economic crisis is a blessing.
He collects luxury cars. He is into mining, agriculture, construction, real estate and tourism.
Because whatever the world may think about his fatherland, Zimbabwe works.
Or so he says.
But this is life outside the walls of his mansion.
Where people have to fight for the last food available.
Supermarkets are empty.
Hyperinflation has brought the economy to a standstill.
Most petrol stations are out of fuel for months.
And at those places where there is something for sale
the queue's go on for miles.
Because of the shortages the black market can offer up to a 100 times more for foreign currency than the bank.
Because of hyperinflation all valuables double in price the next day.
Like stocks.
Maybe its hard to imagine but the stock exchange in Harare is one of the best performing in the world.
They are breaking record after record here.
This is not despite the economic crisis and hyperinflation here. It is all because of the crisis.
Or you start building houses, which are guaranteed to gain in value in just a couple of days.
Who has some money to spend, has no interest in any change in the economic situation.
Businessmen like Phillip Chiangwa can only be grateful to the government of president Mugabe.
