I choose to live at Grad Housing because of it's convenient location.
I'm really busy with my science research on campus. I work in a lab,
and it's convenient to be right next to Science Hill.
Living with other Grad students really helps my studies; I can balance my ideas off of three other housemates I have.
They have very similar interest that I have -
it makes it a more enjoyable experience
here at Graduate Student Housing.
Because there are single rooms and four
rooms in each apartment, you kinda get your own space but you also get to
talk to people who are also going through
similar programs.
It kinda feels like we actually live in a community. I've talked to other Grads
who aren't living in Grad Housing and
their experience is kind of
they come up to campus, and they go back home.
They're just always traveling or commuting. I feel like I have a little bit of extra time living on
campus.
It's close to everything.
UCSC has been a great
place
to foster this sort of interdisciplinary
Connections. If you look
over the fence and talk to your neighbor you're going to see there's people
in Computer Science, in
Physics, and in Engineering.
So it's all a matter of
go around and talk to people.
Especially to be near the library is awesome, because
I grade a lot of papers for my students. I'm a TA, and it's just makes it easier
if I live right next to the library.
It's also really nice to live on campus; being close to my department is really good.
I can kind of pop over for office hours at one of the coffee shops on campus.
So, at Grad Housing we have a really good kitchen
but sometimes it's just, I don't have the time, so I can walk down to the
dining hall or go to any of the nearby restaurants on campus like Owl's Nest is
really close by
and I can just eat there instead of making a meal myself.
Living in Grad Housing is the right choice for me because I'm running
around and having such a great location on campus
is really helpful.
I think what is so unique about UCSC
is the way that it's embedded in this kind of natural environment,
and one that is so amazingly beautiful.
