What are the worst foods to eat while bodybuilding?
In theory, the worst food to eat if you want a healthy diet is sugar. It messes with your
blood sugar and tends to go straight to fat.
Sugar should affect your blood sugar.
It drives up blood sugar before dropping off, making you hungry shortly afterward while
much of it ends up as fat.
I’ve heard guys say they should eat meat and then shun a ham sandwich.
They should eat lean meat for protein but avoid processed meat that is high in fat.
One guy was even saying he couldn’t have weight gain shakes, though he’s trying to
bulk up.
Weight gain shakes primarily turn into fat unless your metabolism is supernaturally fast
or you literally cannot eat anything else. If you want to lose fat and build muscle,
weight gain shakes may fuel a workout but aren’t optimized to build muscle.
Yet many body builders live off shakes.
Those are protein shakes, high in protein but not necessarily in calories. It fuels
the body and muscle growth without any excess that can be turned into fat.
Some people said they have to avoid milk, which is ironic given its high protein content.
A protein shake would be better.
At least they could have spaghetti and meatballs like everyone else.
Pasta has a lot of calories and is almost pure carbohydrates, unless you get whole grain
pasta. It may have fueled civilizations, but it isn’t good for body builders.
And what should they eat instead?
Spaghetti squash is popular.
That’s a vegetable. Or root. Or something.
It is a vegetable, but you can get something like spaghetti strands out of it and eat it
like spaghetti.
I’d rather eat vegetarian meals based on soy mock meat than that.
I mock your mock meat. Just be honest and eat beans.
Rice and beans are cheap. Dave Ramsey jokes about poor people only being able to afford
that to live off of while getting out of debt.
Body builders ought to just eat the beans, because it is high in protein and ultra-cheap.
