What's up Youtube!
Welcome to another episode from TastySauces.com. I'm your host Billy D and
today I got a real treat for you guys. I got a few samples and I want to thank Tim Kavarnos for sending me thos.
He is the owner of the Salamander Sauce Company.
This is a brand new hot sauce that is coming out and they
actually have been in 4 restaurants as of now
with 3 restaurants in New York and 1 in Connecticut
and this stuff has really got a cult following so
Tim decided this was so good that he is going to start bottling and selling it
nationally so
I wanted to give it a little taste test
They have 3 varities.
Interestingly, you got your
typical hot sauce which everyone has
but then they also got a little tropical flavor and they got a strawberry flavor to so
definitely want to look at these guys
So first with the taste test, we are going to try the strawberry hot sauce.
As far as the ingredients, obviously strawberry is in there
then they got a little habanero to add a little heat and then they
got some orange, some balsamic vinegar,
some champagne vinegar I haven't tried that before
some sugar and sea salt.
and you may be wondering why does he call ithe company Salamander
Well, Salamander is a mythical creature that is basically been known to
dance through the fires without getting burned so
that is kind of his motto behind his hot sauce. He wants it to be hot but doesn't want it to
overpower the flavors.
Smell a little heat in there.
You get a little
strawberry taste definitely right there.
It does have some heat on there.
But you get that nice kick of that strawberry to help cool it off.
It's pretty good. The heat is not crazy
Not too mild
This would be interesting to maybe try on like an ice cream or something like that
I did a little breakfast burrito today but
it would be interesting to see what you could pair this with
This is definitely pretty tasty though
So on my 5 star scale, I'd give it a 4
on the 5 star scale.
As far as the spiciness level,
I'd give it a 6 on the spiciness.
Pretty good stuff there.
Now moving onto the Tropical variety
this has pineapple, papaya, mango, kiwi, banana, red onion, garlic, habanero,
jalapenos,
grapefruit, lime, orange,
its got vinegars of apple cider and white, and sea salt and sugar
So we definitely should get a little tropical feel from this
Yeah, you definitely get a hint of those fruits
in there
That is really good as well
It is actually a little bit milder than the Strawberry as far as the spicy scale.
I would probably give it a 5 on that level.
It is real sweet though
It has a real strong mango-kiwi taste. This would probably go really good with fish or
chicken.
But
definitely really good stuff. I'd give it a 4 on the 5 star rating
Now, moving onto the hot sauce.
What they got in here, they got red bell pepper, some sweetness,
they got habaneros so should have some definite spice on there, jalapeno,
carrot, garlic, ginger, cilantro,
lime, white apple and champagne vinegar, sea salt,
Yeah, this one smells
like it is a little bit hotter than the other ones. You know typically
habaneros are pretty spicy for me.
It has got that nice orange color from the habaneros too.
Mmm. That's really good
A lot of hot sauces you taste that
strong vinegar taste but I don't really taste it in here.
Its got a nice little flavor
Its got that nice heat that is following up on it.
This one has got a little spice and I am going to have grab that milk here in a second.
That is pretty good.
Its got my lips burning a little bit
but not too bad.
Its definitely really good stuff
As far as heat level scale,
I will give this one 7 out of 10. It's definitely up there
and as far as my 5 star rating, I will give this one 4.5.
Definitely like this stuff. If you don't like that heavy vinegar stuff
you probably will want to check out this Salamander Sauce.
Thank you guys for checking out my video review today.
Make sure to stay tuned for future episodes and, I can't wait to see you guys later. Bye!
