The average salary for Receptionist whose just starting out with no experience is probably
going to be minimum wage, depending on what state you're in. From there, it can go up
depending on any little skills that you might have, you know, computer skills, anything
like that. I think most starting wages, like for instance when I worked in Arizona, the
starting wage was about five fifteen an hour. It goes up from there, I think Utah is about
the same, around five dollars an hour. If you're going to a bigger company, such as
State Farm, I know State Farm starts out at, between ten and eleven dollars an hour, somewhere
around there, and they can go up from there. It just depends on how much experience you
have, what skills you have, how computer savvy you are, what programs you know how to use,
what kind of software you know how to use. I know that the potential at State Farm can
go all the way up to about fifty five thousand a year, obviously that's after many, many
years of experience, and a lot of you know, knowledge, computer based knowledge, anything
like that. But, there is that possibility if you stay with the same position for a long
time and gain a lot of experience, you're a valuable asset to the company and their
going to reward you for it. There is a growing need for Receptionists I think, or at least
a leveled need, because in this position, you tend to advance within companies, you
tend to move up, change positions, you know, anything like that. So, I think there's always
going to be a need for Secretary, or Receptionist positions, just because people, there's a
lot of turn over, not necessarily with leaving the company, but just with moving up in positions,
and salary, and things like that. I know that with State Farm, they actually encourage you
to get as much education as you can, getting as much experience as you can, and to move
up in positions and to you know, expand your own knowledge, based on your own experience,
and to put yourself in a better situation for the rest of your life. They would actually
prefer if you did not stay in the same position forever, but they try to help you as much
as they can, to help yourself and get a better position in life and move up within the company.
