They are looking at it as a fun thing to do
and they really wanted to do their best.
And we have told them,
they say some of them are like 4 times,
5 times bigger than you guys and they’re all saying,
well that makes it more exciting
and challenging for us.
They are like a family.
They do practice, just about an hour,
everyday in Kabul, Afghanistan.
His name is Solomon,
he is one of the cute boys in the team.
He at 6 months ago,
he was not able to eat by himself,
somebody had to put the food in his mouth.
Of course, they had to take
him to the restroom and
everything else was very much
he was handicapped.
But once they brought him to the
Special Olympics and got him involved with sport,
he showed a tremendous improvement.
To the point that he not only eat by himself,
he goes to bathroom by himself and
also today the coach was very impressed
because he always stood in the back to
just be a person in the back not moving too much,
but today by himself he wanted to attack
and go score goals. He said, even we lost today,
it was a winning for us because it was
wonderful to see and coach was saying,
I was yelling to come back
and he didn’t want to come back.
They do have some kinds of equipment
but they know they are not based
on the international standards.
So they came here knowing that and
they talked to the host family and
the host family, they said we gonna
buy you whatever it takes and
they were so thankful but they didn’t
want to tell the host family to
spend lots of money for all 11 kids.
So they asked them,
please buy only 6 and
we are going to switch during the game.
This is what the Olympics are all about.
And they are so excited to see something
like that come out of this Special Olympics.
