These are the main features of the Genie+
This power wheelchair is fitted with a Genie+
The Genie+ enables integrated control over
a wheelchair, computer, mobile phone and
environmental or communication device.
It is used with any DX remote module and in this setup a HMC mini joystick is used.
The Genie + is basically a display where
the various different control options
or modes are selected via a switch and joystick
I just have selected to control one of the chair actuators
The joystick now controls the angle of the back rest
Now a drive mode is selected and the joystick controls the movement of the chair.
Pressing the switch again allows the joystick to change to computer access.
This is represented by the symbol C on the seven segment display.
A mouse emulator on the table is connected
to the PC and once the chair is within range
the joystick will control the mouse cursor.
For this demonstration an onscreen keyboard
has been set up with a word processor
so that typing can be accomplished.
The cursor is moved by the joystick over the desired letter.
Pressing the switch will emulate a left click
which sends the character to the word processor.
If necessary the right click
can be emulated with another switch.
Moving on to the external device control.
A Gewa Prog has been connected up to the Genie+
Selecting external access on the Genie allows
the joystick to control the Gewa Prog.
This has been setup with infra red signals to control the CD player.
Here track 7 has been selected
and then the CD is stopped
Other devices can be controlled such as a communication device.
Finally the mobile phone option is selected on the Genie + display.
The mini joystick now will now control the mobile phone
The mobile phone is a smart phone with Click2phone software installed.
Here I finish by selecting a contact on the phone and sending a simple message.
