Hi guys, so today we're gonna take a
look at a couple different kinds of screencasting software.
So that's how you record things on your screen like
the videos that I make for my tutorials on Wealthy Affiliate.
So I've got them all lined up here.
Some of them I've used before, some of them I haven't used.
And I'll tell you their story of what's going on with them with my experience
with them, as well as advantages and disadvantages to being.
Software.
So the first one I've used before.
It's free. It's called Jing.
It's from this place call techsmith. And it works very well.
It's really easy to use.
All you do is select a portion of the screen that you want to
[MUSIC]
To capture then you can upload it to the internet
and share it with your friends and that's about it.
It's really simple there's no like extra editing
features, but it does what it's supposed to do.
And I, I use to use it and
[MUSIC]
I was happy with it. The advantage, of course, is that it's free.
The disadvantage, is that, only creates files in what's called,
swift, a swf file so you can't upload them to youtube and as far as I
could find, there are no convertors that will convert a swf file.
[MUSIC]
Into things like MP4, WMV or MOV files. So, the
only way to share the videos is to use their video
sharing service, which is screencast.com.
So, it's kind of a way to get people to use the
screencast.com service. It is pretty good, this screencast.com thing.
I mean you can upload your videos, you can share
with friends, it's basically like a YouTube that nobody else uses.
So it could potentially be good for maybe showing
people how to do something, like you have a friend
and you want to show him how to do
something or you want to show Someone that you've hired.
How to do a certain process, but really if you
upload your videos to screencast nobody's going to find them
in Google.
So your going to be better off with Youtube, but you can see if you
make the videos with, with Ging, that you won't be able to get them onto Youtube.
So moving on, there's this place called Ezvid.
Now I've seen advertisments for them, I've seen
[MUSIC]
Other videos that people have made for them. And it seems pretty easy, it's free.
The good thing is that there is a way to add audio and do some simple video
editing within the ezvid software and then it's possible to upload to youtube.
And it seems pretty integrated.
The disadvantage 1 is that its impossible to find out where
to download it so you need to scroll down here to learn more then scroll all the
way down to the bottom after all this stuff and then you click download now.
Now the other problem I ran into is that I was unable to
install it and get it working on both Windows 8 and Windows 7.
[MUSIC]
And then, in addition to that, it tried to install
this extra browser on, or this extra toolbar on Chrome.
So it's installing a bunch of adware while I was
[MUSIC]
Installing ezvid, so I never actually used it.
I can't say if it's good or bad because I never, after 30 minutes
of messing with it, I was unable to get it working properly without the adware.
And another disadvantage is that You can't actually produce the videos.
You can use them within the
[INAUDIBLE]
software, and then you can upload them to YouTube, but you can't create a
MP4 file or a WMV file, and then the editing process is extremely simple.
There's really nothing fancy about it.
[MUSIC]
But it's free and maybe worth your time. The next one is called screenr.
[MUSIC]
So, I have seen several people use Screener in the past couple of months.
And it's really easy and the advantage is that you
don't have to install anything you just go over to record.
And then you select the portion of the screen you want to record.
You can record up to 5 minutes, and then it puts
it on the screen or website and then you can upload
to YouTube from there.
So, it's free, you don't have to install anything
[MUSIC]
It's easy to use and it's easy to upload to Youtube.
The disadvantage is that there's no editing capabilities.
You are limited to 5 minutes.
You can't produce the video into any sort of file format.
And then the other problem I ran into is that
was unable to get it working on Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Even though I have Java on my computer.
For some reason it's not detecting it. So I didn't
actually get a chance to try it.
So depending on what your running on your computer,
this may be a source of frustration for you.
Ok, CamStudio. This is some open source software.
And I spent the past hour or so trying to mess with these things.
Honestly, CamStudio also tried to install some kind of ad-ware on my computer.
It was blocked by my anti-virus and then I was unable to completely
install it. What you learn has a lot of free stuff.
It says it's free, but there's conditions. To it.
I can't really recommend this, but I've seen it recommended on several different sites.
It seems like it's pretty easy to use and it
could be a potential free option for recording symbols free casts.
Okay, so getting into the, into some paid stuff now.
ScreenFlow is what Mac people use most of the time.
Anytime you ask someone about Mac they're probably gonna talk about ScreenFlow.
It's 99 dollars, I don't use it, I don't have a Mac.
But it seems to be the most popular and
most reliable kind of video editing software for screencasts.
So, with the paid product, you're going to get support,
you're going to get cool features, you're going to get the ability
to produce the videos and probably some other cool features.
I can't talk about ScreenFlow too much, cuz I don't use it, but the one
I do use, and The reason I made this video today is
because some people asked me what I was using
to make my videos is camtasia.
[MUSIC]
So camtasia is pretty awesome. I use it pretty much everyday.
It can do a lot of cool stuff, I'll show you in just a second.
The upside is it, it works really well, you know, I had all those problems with those
free things today but, you know, [camptasia] I basically
just install it Started using it within 10 minutes.
It's got a lot
of advanced features, it's easy to create simple videos
but you can get as advanced as you like.
I'll show you in just a second.
You can produce it to produce your videos
into all kinds of different formats, add a watermark.
[MUSIC]
Add copyright stuff.
You can share it to a bunch of different websites automatically.
This has all kinds of cool features.
The downside is that it's really expensive.
It's $300, so it's definitely not something you want
to buy if you just wanna play around with it.
There is a free trial But its only 30 days so if your planning on
using this software for any sort of long term project that using the free trial
probably is not going to help you very much but this is what
I use for my recordings on wealthy affiliate and on my own web.
[MUSIC]
Site, let's take a look real quick. So you can see here in the bottom,
this is where I'm recording my video and this is the editing zone.
Once your finished recording your video, then you
can import it, you can add different files.
[MUSIC]
From your library, you can
choose different video sizes.
[MUSIC]
You got layers.
[MUSIC]
You can add animations.
[MUSIC]
There's little
pictures you can add.
[MUSIC]
[MUSIC].
You can do things like highlight your
cursor. That's gonna show people where
you are in the video. You can zoom.
[MUSIC]
You can blur out, things that you don't want people to see.
[MUSIC]
You can add transitions.
[MUSIC]
[MUSIC].
So, there's just all kinds of different cool stuff you can do.
But, again, that's going to be, if you want to
do something a little bit more serious with your video projects.
Because it is. Very expensive.
So that about wraps it up.
I will put the links to the different free video softwares down there.
I will also put
a link to Captasia but just so we're clear on things it is not an affiliate link.
[MUSIC]
I do have an affikiate account with Camptasia,
but thsat is on my own personal website.
And the link in the Wealthy affiliate traiining is not all
an affiliayte link at all whre I get any sort of
credit or any sort of (no period) Monetary compensation from Camtasia,
simply demonstrating how I make my training videos on Wealthy Affiliate.
So, if you have any questions or
comments about these various types of video screencasting software, if you've tried them
[MUSIC]
Or if you download them and use them, go ahead and leave a comment and tell everyone
else whether you met with success or failure with the screen casting software.
So, thanks for watching.
Bye.
