Hi I'm Petty Officer Riley, boatswains mate at Coast Guard Station Juneau. Labor Day weekend
is coming up and I want to share you some tips that will keep you safe during the weekend.
As the summer comes to an end it's import to remember that the weather can change quickly.
Before leaving the dock it's important that you leave with the proper equipment. These
include a personal floatation device, radio or communication equipment. And an emergency
signalling devices. Before you leave it's important to arrange to file a float plan
with the harbor master, friend or a family member to let them know how long you're going
to be gone and when you're going to be back in the case that you don't back they can notify
the Coast Guard. Have fun out there, enjoy the weekend and most importantly make sure
you're staying safe.
