\f0\fs24 \cf0 Hi. My name is Shanelle Newton Clapham. I am a digital marketing consultant.
I have a business called Parachute Digital. And today, I'm going to talk to you about
social media success tips.\ \
So, most people really miss the point when it comes to social media. They think that
it's just like every other broadcast tool and that you can just type out a few pieces
of information and the people are going to be interested. \
\ And they
\f1 ' \f0 re going to comment, they
\f1 ' \f0 re going to come back again and again
and again because they just can't wait to hear what you have to say. \
\ But really, that
\f1 ' \f0 s not the case. So, what I'd like to teach
you today is some tips for success of how you can improve your social media marketing.\
\ So, the first tip is to always remember that
social media is not a campaign. \ \
Don \f1 '
\f0 t think that it has a start and end date just because you
\f1 ' \f0 ve got a campaign running on radio, or
on television, or with a partner publisher. \
\ That doesn
\f1 ' \f0 t mean that the social media just finishes
at the end of that. You have to have a long term strategy. You have to be invested in
social media because if you get thousands and thousands of people to come to your page
and to like what you're doing, and then you just stop talking to them when your promotion
finishes. \ \
One, that \f1 '
\f0 s not a great brand experience, but two, it's not showing them love and respect. \
\ And if you want these customers and fans to
be loyal to you, then you have to respect them and you have to continue your investment
in them.\ \
The second tip for social marketing success is to make sure that you have your content
plan mapped out in advance. \ \
Always, always, always have at least some theme set out of what you're going to talk
about. \ \
Make sure that you \f1 '
\f0 ve got a schedule for work that you need to get ready for the future, create videos,
making sure you \f1 '
\f0 ve got images, sourcing interviews, getting blog posts, make sure that you
\f1 ' \f0 ve got all that stuff ready in advance
because if you don \f1 '
\f0 t, you're going to find yourself scrambling all around for information, and you're going
to end up sending your fans and your followers to other people's pages because you won't
have anything to tell them.\ \
My third social media success tip is to make sure that you start by listening. \
\ Always sit down and spend a couple of weeks
or couple of months watching what people are saying about your site online. \
\ There are tools like search.twitter.com where
you can see what people are saying about you at any given time. \
\ There are lots of social media metrics tools
out there right in six buzz metrics, things like that that you can invest in piety of
social media strategies to make sure that you get out of it what you want. \
\ But in the end, you need to make sure that
you listen. \ \
You know what people think about you, what they
\f1 ' \f0 re talking about before you start engaging
so that you're prepared for what's going to come.\
\ The fourth social media marketing tip that
I have for you today is that you need to make sure that you're measuring the right thing.
If you're measuring fans and followers and just how many mentions you get, that
\f1 ' \f0 s not really the point of social media.
Social media is about sentiment, about understanding people, and about changing your business and
your practices so that you can provide a better service to you customers. \
\ It's an opportunity to learn and grow and
improve your business so make sure that you're measuring sentiment and that you are measuring
engagement and how much people are talking to you and what they
\f1 ' \f0 re saying about your brand not just how
many followers you have.\ \
So, those are my four social media marketing tips and I hope that they
\f1 ' \f0 ve been helpful. \
\ And this is my first video blog ever so I'm
a bit nervous and I think I've stumbled a few times but hopefully we
\f1 ' \f0 ll get better from here. So, good luck.
