On february 27th the fifth most intense earthquake in mankind's history lashed the center-south of Chile, the most populated zone of the country.
We heard a huge racket...
My wife said "Help me out, Ale!", because a big closet felt on our bed.
In the emergency room everything had fallen. Everything, everything...
In some places, after the earth's movement, giants waves came and took all they found on their path
The first wave came from there, the other from over there. They met.
Then I could not go out to the street to run away.
Constitucion was one of those places
Since then, the protagonists of the tragedy began to walk the painful road of reconstruction.
This is a very humble neighbourhood and everyone has made sacrifices to have their houses. And to see everything go away from one minute to the next is very painful.
I lost both of my boats, two motors...
We are already 60 years old, can you imagine. To get back on our feet... no where to work... no money, not even a plate. We have nothing.
It's impossible to send our children to school. In one more week school starts, and how do you send the kids to school if you don't even have a roof over your head. Everyone's in tents. It's impossible to send them.
The problem that will come along with winter will be very big. The health team is going to have a lot of work.
And they met more difficulties than they ever imagined.
This is a follow-up of the reality of those who suffered intensely that February 27.
A reality full of stumbles. The tragedy extended further than those early morning hours.
We have to find someway in which we will rise again, not only our neighbourhood but Constitucion back on its feet.
We'll stay here. There is life, there are stories. Nobody will move us from here.
