So, somebody goes to dinner, and when they get home,
there is a completely renovated space.
That kind of blows your mind.
You go out to dinner with your hubby.
I can do that.
This week, we're creating a media room for Ben.
I'm hoping that the old-lady disguise kind of throws him off.
MATTHEWS: You were handpicked to tackle this next raid.
What we want to create is a really multifunctional space.
I think we should get on it.
Everything with this remodel
is really happening behind the scenes.
Our goal is to get this build timed.
33 minutes.
Do you think it's actually gonna go that quickly?
Probably not quite that quickly.
Jim! Get to it! Swing away!
We have to be scheduled down to the minute.
We only have 10 minutes left in this hour.
If we don't have a really tight timeline...
Move!
...and we haven't troubleshot as much as possible beforehand,
there's no way we're gonna be able to finish.
That's Ben! That's Ben! That's Ben! That's Ben!
Someone's about to get raided.

Our accomplice this week is Kelley,
and she wants to do this project for her husband, Ben.
Ben is a great DIYer.
And they've tackled every part of their house,
which they bought as a fixer-upper,
Okay.
And Ben has a full-time job.
They have a 2-year-old.
And these guys are expecting a baby in about six months.
She knows that he's never gonna get to this project
before the baby comes.
All right. This is it.
This cul-de-sac is gonna know we're here.
KELLEY: Hello.
This is the basement.
So, you guys pretty much bought this as a fixer-upper,
and you're working your way down.
And, obviously, you haven't quite got to the lower level yet.
Not quite. [ Laughs ]
So, you're really trying to thank him
for all the other stuff that he's done around the house
and create a space for him as a surprise?
He wants to get this basement done before the baby comes,
and it would be just such a huge stress relief
for him not to have to worry about doing this
and just have a space where he can come
and just pick up his feet and relax.
So, you know how this works, right?
We are gonna tackle it in one night.
You go out to dinner with your hubby.
You keep him out as long as possible,
'cause we need a minimum of five hours
for any project like this.
I can do that.
But what are you thinking down here?
Ideally, we'd love to have, like, a guest room,
maybe a little office area in here.
'Cause his parents are from out of town,
so it'd be nice to have their own space down here.
And what about the rest of the space?
I've always thought this would be a great place
for my husband to come downstairs
and kind of have a reprieve from the rest of the family,
Nobody gets in.
We're gonna talk about the space.
Jim's gonna take some measurements.
I'm gonna take some photos, and we're gonna send you away
Okay.
I've got to get an exact kind of profile of this fireplace,
'cause I'm sure you're gonna want us
to build something to kind of cut into it.
We just don't have time to get rid of all that brick.
There's no way.
We need to reclaim that space to get room for the television.
In here, that's the perfect corner for a Murphy bed.
There's plenty of space over here to set up an office area.
I got what I need.
Okay. Great.
Good morning.
How's everybody doing?
You probably noticed
we're working with a bit of a skeleton crew today.
We're working in a space that's under 400 square feet.
We have to have less people
so we're not working on top of each other.
Great. So, we have more time, correct?
That's what I figured.
So, this week, we're gonna be creating a media room for Ben.
Ben is a great DIYer.
He's tackled a bunch of projects in the house.
His wife, Kelley, wants to surprise him
with a media room.
So, let's take a look at the space.
Our first challenge in this space
is just getting down the stairs.
Luckily, there's no turn.
It's a short stairwell, but it's pretty narrow.
The main focus of the media-room space is this fireplace wall.
Now, it would be tragic
to get rid of the working wood fireplace,
but the one thing that really doesn't work
is that weird firebox.
So, that's got to go away
because it's really wasted space.
Once we remove it, we're gonna furr out the wall,
add bookcases on either side to give it some depth.
This whole section will be drywall.
I want it to look like a continuous wall.
And the wall will be angled.
You can focus on that without the TV being the focal point
when you walk down the stairs.
Now, here is the existing bedroom.
What we want to create
is a really multifunctional space for these guys.
We'll be adding shelving and an office area
so that Ben has somewhere to work.
This also needs to double as a guest room,
so the best way to do that and keep it flexible
is with a Murphy bed in this corner.
There's existing carpet in there.
We're ripping it out,
and we're putting in carpet tiles.
All the work in that space has to be finished
before that carpet goes down.
Let's go look at the skeleton space that Jim mocked up.
We mocked up the space using photos that we put on vinyls.
So, when the guys walk into the mock-up...
You can really get a feel of how small it is in here.
It is.
...they feel like they're actually in the space.
Jim is gonna pass out your detailed projects.
So, get a feel for the space,
and I'm gonna go meet with the spy.
We're just gonna float a desk right through here.
I think the entertainment center's
gonna take as long as the Murphy bed and the desk combined.
We have to figure out the corner, the angle,
which is gonna have a TV box.
Hi!
I'm Andrea.
Nice to meet you. Come on in.
Let's go through the night together.
Now, do you have to drop your daughter off anywhere?
What's the plan?
No. My parents are going to come over
and watch her at our place.
Then they're gonna take her.
And you're gonna be keeping in contact with me
through every moment of the night.
We have you at 5:00 walking out the door
Okay.
So, you guys are hopping on the freeway.
You're heading all the way across town
as far as you can possibly go.
This is the restaurant that you'll be at.
And you'll be sitting in a window
that's right there on the end of the restaurant.
Our stall tactic for the night
is deflating the tire of the car.
You know how to deflate the tire?
Okay.
The earliest I want you home is 11:00.
That's giving us less than a 6-hour window
from the time that we actually get in
and get our stuff set up.
So, do you guys feel good about the plan for that night?
Yes.
All right, I'm gonna get you guys out of here,
because we are rocking and rolling on your project
and I don't want you to get a glimpse
of anything that we're doing.
I'll lead you out.
Mm-hmm.
So, Jimbo, what's happening over here with the media console?
This sheet is gonna be our face.
It's the one that holds the TV and the stereo components.
Oh! Gentle!
On this project, we're really working with a bare space.
And so 90% of what we're doing in that space
has to be prefabricated in the warehouse.
These pieces are based on measurements
that aren't always exact.
There's always a few gaps in the measurements,
and when you're doing custom built-in pieces
where every inch matters,
you got to take that into account
as you're building these custom pieces.
We brought it in to figure out how much space is left over
to build this bookcase.
Um...
Tell me these measurements are off.
We have this 9-inch return here which goes up onto the mantel.
So, this whole thing will actually sit 9 inches that way.
[ Singsong voice ] I have a present for you.
This is your hardware set.
We're creating a built-in Murphy bed,
and we're gonna cover it
with some really cool whitewashed wood panels.
Look at that.
There are springs. There are pivot points.
And these things have to be placed perfectly
so that it functions.
If we can't pull this down
and someone can't sleep on it and it can't stand up straight,
we don't have our basement.
That's not right.
These guys who usually toss directions over their shoulder
and leave them laying in the dust
have to actually read the manual.
There's the headboard.
So, that's our first problem.
That's not right, either.
This box is upside down.
With all those challenges
in just one little, tiny part of the project,
it's like, "Is the Murphy bed gonna kill us?
Are you kidding me?"
They just left, so you guys should move on in.
Bring it in!
Everybody clear! We got the Murphy bed coming in!
We're gonna have to saw.
I've never deflated a tire before.
It doesn't even look flat yet.
That's Ben! That's Ben! That's Ben! That's Ben!
This entire room should have been done.
We can't do anything else. Everything we do hinges on you.
MATTHEWS: All right, you guys. Gather 'round.
We're gonna take a look at the timeline.
Today is our mock build,
and it's one of my favorite days.
Oh, you're all so quiet today.
Tired.
You can't be tired today, please.
This is the day where it all comes together.
As we all know, there's some challenges
and choreography going on with this build
that is kind of unlike any other build.
I've planned for five hours for this build.
But the first hour
is technically all of our demolition,
and the last hour is all of our cleanup
and the design and the decor going in.
We've really only got three hours for the actual build.
We're gonna start at the top of hour 2, okay?
Are you guys ready?
We started now.
You're already two seconds in, people. Move!
Whoa!
All right, guys. Coming in. Hold on.
All right, so, that went up in 6 minutes. That's good news.
So, Matt, Craig, you got this up in literally 6 minutes.
So, even if we double that -- 12 --
you're under 15 minutes for that going in.
Yeah.
Okay. I'll triple it. That's it. 20 minutes.
Okay.
Like a glove.
So, Jim, is that Murphy bed pretty much in?
Well, once they close this,
they have to cleat out against the wall,
the ceiling, this wall.
And then they got to strip out that 1x6 pine.
So, I think an hour minimum
for the whole Murphy bed and the wall?
That's good.
High ceiling.
Two filing cabinets on either end.
Just to see.
She decided she wants a seamless look.
HUBER: Take a look at it.
WHEELER: Oh, it's wrong already.
I want the carpet grain to go this way.
Look how quick this is gonna go in.
Knock on wood.
Each tile is 4 square feet at once.
33 minutes.
Screw, please.
You are only 10 minutes into this install,
and you're already done.
Do you think it's actually gonna go that quickly?
Probably not quite that quickly, but I'd say half an hour.
So, that means that potentially,
depending on what's going on in that room,
the carpet can be started
or other trim work in the room can be started.
This is going down like gangbusters.
Even if it takes twice as long because of the stickers,
we're still 30 minutes in,
and we've got almost the entire media room done.
So, that's a win.
It's nice.
With a book under it. Perfect.
All right, everybody. I'm stopping time right now.
Yes, I'm good.
Okay, everything's in.
It's 1:33.
So, that means if we started at hour 2, we are 3:30.
Let's double our hour and a half for the build
with all the unknowns.
That brings us exactly to five.
I still think the unknowns on this build
are what could kill us.
We have everything else covered.
All right, guys.
So, are we ready to pack up the truck?
Absolutely.
All the design stuff is going on first.
Here we go.
Come to me.
You know what?
If these raids don't go well, we could start a moving company.
HUBER: There it is.
Let's go do this.
All right.
I'm hoping that the old-lady disguise kind of throws him off,
'cause I don't usually look or dress like an old lady.
[ Laughs ] It's kind of exciting, you know?
Ben will never recognize me.
Perfect disguise.
It's time for me to leave the spy location
and stake out in front of their house.
So, here's the scoop.
When we get to the house, nobody heads in right away
because Grandma and Grandpa are there.
They've got the baby, and they've got two dogs.
And they have to get out of the house
before we can get in, all right?
Let'*** the cars.
Five minutes. We're ready to roll.
Jim, are you ready?
[ Laughs ]
I'm staked outside of Kelley and Ben's cul-de-sac right how.
The hope is --
this is what we really got our fingers crossed for --
is that they're gonna go out the other way
so I can follow them from behind.
But I honestly have no idea what I'm gonna do
if they all of a sudden start coming straight at me.
Okay, here they are. They just pulled out.
The chase has started. I'm kind of nervous.
Oh, getting a phone call.
Hi, Amy. It's Andrea.
What's happening?
Hey, they just left, so you guys should move on in.
All right, everybody.
We are ready to roll. Wheels out.
I'm gonna park right here.
I'm going to get Grandma and Grandpa.
Hi.
Yes.
Good.
So, are you ready to roll?
We're ready to rock 'n' roll.
Okay, we will let you get out of here as fast as possible.
We're not coming in until you're gone, okay?
Awesome.
No, we got it.
Okay, great.
We will -- We will load in as soon as you're out.
We're ready to roll.
Two more minutes, Andy. We got a truck in the garage.
Two more minutes.
Which really means 5 or 10.
I had a teddy, too.
CORBIN: Yeah, it's a good spot, too.
Here we go. Buckle on.
All right. You are all locked in.
Amy, this is not going fast enough.
It's crazy.
Hurry up! Go!
Don't roll the window down! Just go!
Okay, so that took a little longer than planned,
so we got to make that time up.
HUBER: Andy? Andy?
Bring it in.
You can start.
Matt, Scott, whatever you can do.
[ Backup alarm beeping ]
We're officially in.
You can start pulling that carpet right away.
Until we get that demo done,
we can't start bringing anything in.
I'm not really gonna be happy
until Jim is tearing something apart.
You're gonna get a lot of weight right now. Here it comes.
Everybody clear! We got the Murphy bed coming in!
It's gonna be a tight fit for a really heavy piece.
And it's not gonna fit.
Will do.
Someone give me a hand with this mirror.
You guys watch out, all right?
No chicken wire, no rebar.
[ Breathing heavily ] But it's hard work.
[ Chuckles ] You're looking good.
Yeah?
There's no way that bookcase is gonna fit
just by looking at what's here
versus what we did in the warehouse.
I completely agree.
Even with the angle coming here, no, it won't.
We must have got a wrong measurement.
So, you know what? There's no bookcase, then.
All right. This whole floor is coming up.
It is glued down, but just looks like on the perimeter.
So it's gonna come up fairly easy.
That's why they didn't use much glue.
So, they pulled out a little bit in front of us, Kelley and Ben,
so I am just kind of guesstimating
which way they went.
And I can't believe I already lost them,
but I can at the same time.
I see a car that looks like theirs,
but I can't tell if it's them or not.
And I can't decide
if I want to get close enough to find out, either.
What I'm thinking about right now
is having to call Amy back at the house
and saying we lost them.
That would be awful.
Well, we caught up to the car I thought was them,
and it's definitely not.
So [Sighs]
We are ready to bring the Murphy bed in.
I love the sound of that.
You're gonna get a lot of weight right now.
Yeah.
The Murphy bed coming in.
Drop.
Watch the light right above it.
Is it getting lighter?
Uh, no.
MATTHEWS: I'm right behind you, Scott. I gotcha.
All right. You've got three more steps. One.
It is not gonna go.
We've got to go in the back door.
So, we're gonna go in the back door.
Plan "B" in action. Here we come.
I get to walk backwards, and I get to carry it by myself.
See if we can ride this thing down the hill.
CORBIN: Just hold on a second. Let's just --
No, this one's frozen.
This is frozen in. It's frozen.
Well, you got a 77-inch clearance.
Yeah.
Okay.
Clear! All right.
[ Laughs ]
CORBIN: Go. Go back.
Your end can go down.
Stand it up.
MATTHEWS: Yay!
This is the first time I've seen these guys sweat,
and they work so *** every build.
If they're sweating tonight already,
like, not even an hour in, this is a tough project.
Two feet and we don't have to touch this thing again.
Yay!
If I had to grade myself as a spy right now,
I'd be getting an "F."
A spy should know where their target is.
I'm just gonna trust that the plan works.
I'm almost to the restaurant. [ Breathes deeply ]
I just really hope that I don't get there before them
because I don't know what to do.
Like, do I go in the restaurant?
Do I, like, walk around and see if they're there?
Or do I try and, like, text Kelley and ask where they are?
Or do I just sit there and wait, you know?
[ Sighs ]
I'm just getting very nervous as the time is approaching.
Just trying to remember to breathe.
Just breathe.
Ready? Let's bring it in.
Should we bring this garbage?
Sure, they build their wall section
so it fits in the front door.
Dude, we're smart enough for that.
We're tight, but we're in.
Or close.
We have a little bit of a problem here.
MATTHEWS: What's happening?
Bring it this way?
It's gonna be a little bit, but it's still gonna be missing.
That's gonna fit.
But, see, the problem they're having is this.
So, I propose they bring the whole thing down.
'Cause that bookcase doesn't --
We got to come over. We got to come over a little bit.
What's going on?
I think you're gonna have to get closer to the wall.
No, we're good.
But we've still got to figure this out, though.
MATTHEWS: Okay.
Yes.
...it's much deeper than this.
We didn't account for the fact that the brick
is gonna be in the way of our media cabinet.
Right now, our media box that sits inside here is 16 inches,
which is about four inches too deep to clear all this brick.
So, we have to retrofit the component box
is probably the only way to do it,
'cause that's the only thing hitting it.
So, we just cut the back corner off it.
Good catch. Good catch.
We don't have time to demo that brick.
Things have already been painted.
These pieces are going in.
So, at this point, we have to change the things you can't see.
We're gonna cut the media box down,
which is just a box that the components sit in.
Those will still fit, but it will take us more time.
That's what we don't have.
Hmm.
Still haven't found them. [ Laughs ]
All right. So, I'm parking.
Where are they?
Don't see their car.
Ohh!
Definitely not texting Kelley right now.
That would be a red flag number one.
I would be pretty afraid if I had to call Amy
and tell them I lost 'em for good.
That screws up a lot of plans of ours.
CORBIN: Find the top of the bed.
Where the hell is that?
We can't find the top of the bed.
Our nemesis is the Murphy bed.
These guys are behind on the trimming out of it.
The whole entire project is out of whack.
Where are they?
Don't see their car.
I think that's them driving up.
Okay. Awesome. They're parking.
Ooh, they're walking into the restaurant. Thank goodness.
Oh.
Aww, he opened the door for her.
What a gentleman.
[ Indistinct conversations ]
Oop, I just got a text from Kelley.
"Hey, we will be at the bar until our reservation."
I'm gonna call Amy and give her an update.
Is there a stud on the right side?
Hey, you guys! I'm getting a call!
Andrea, what's up?
Kelley and Ben just got to the restaurant.
They're a little ahead of schedule.
Okay, that's not good,
'cause we're behind schedule at this point.
So, we don't want them ahead.
In fact, if they can get seated late,
that's what we need from you.
All right. Will do.
So, they're already at the restaurant.
They're 15 minutes early for the reservation.
So, we've got to keep them at the bar for a little bit.
Hey, Ed. I know you have a huge project.
So, right now, you're mudding the back of the fireplace,
but this is all gonna be finished with paint.
And then you've got to mud all the corners
and everything on the front of the media cabinet.
And then you're also having to fix this seam over here
that they just kind of created for you, right?
Okay.
Okay.
Okay, here's our trim. Here's that bottom piece.
Um...so, there's the bottom piece.
These are our one-bys right there.
But now we need that top header portion.
Where the hell is that?
There's a bunch of trim over here.
I don't see that piece yet.
Somebody had it. Maybe someone took it.
No, it's not in there. It's not in the truck, either.
Both.
We can't find the top of the bed.
Can't find the top of the bed? You mean the --
The top of the bed portion
that actually fills the gap to the ceiling.
We prefabbed it so that it would just be a quick in and out.
Now we have to make another one.
I don't remember it going on the truck.
I don't, either, so...
Gosh dang it!
I can fix it, but, of course, it's gonna add more time.
So, we're pretty sure the top of the bed never got thrown on.
You're kidding me.
What are those pieces you have right there?
Get out of here.
They're getting up right now.
The waiter's bringing them to their spot.
Oh, perfect -- It looks like they're sitting
right in front of the window.
Ben's got his back to me, which is great,
because I don't want him to see me.
[ Cellphone rings ]
Hey, Andrea. What's happening?
Kelley and Ben just got seated.
Oh, that's great.
You got them held up from the reservation 15 minutes late.
Yeah.
How's it going over there?
You know, it's going good.
Uh, it looks like a different room.
I hope it looks a lot different
than it does now when you get back.
Oh, I'm so excited. [ Chuckles ]
I need you to keep me posted on each part of the meal
as each of their courses come out.
Is that all right?
All right. That sounds great. I'll let you know.
All right, you guys. We just got good news.
That was an extra 15 minutes we gained
because they sat down 15 minutes late for their reservation.
Whoo!
Everybody's too busy to celebrate.
I like that.
Hey, uh, Scott and Andy?
We are 11 minutes into hour 3.
At this point, you guys were fully done with this wall
and already moving on to the office.
15 minutes, this will be done. 10 or 15 minutes, we'll be done.
So, that means instead of an hour
for the entire office space and that piece coming in,
you probably are gonna have, what, 30, maybe 35 minutes?
Okay.
Our nemesis is the Murphy bed.
These guys are behind on the trimming out of it.
That means it's encroaching on
the time that they have to do the office space,
and they don't get any more than an hour
to get that office bedroom done.
Because in hour 4, we have to start on the carpeting.
If we don't get that carpet started,
the whole entire project gets out of whack.
This is the modification that Jim was talking about.
This box, which used to be square,
had to fit inside of that hole that was really close
to the masonry that was still existing.
The fastest thing was literally to just do a 45
and cut the back of the box off.
Sometimes the easiest modification
is our only option for modification.
That looks great. Lookit.
It's like barn wood.
You just tied in the rooms!
You want to grab it and line me up there?
[ Chuckles ] Oh.
Oh, not quite.
We're close. I just might have a little bit of brick to pop off.
We got to get cable and speaker wire.
We're gonna pop two holes here.
We'll put speaker and cable in one, power in the other.
That's it.
Second time's a charm.
I love that.
I thought it was third, but second's good.
Oh! Look at how pretty that is!
All the construction should be done.
That place is a disaster.
I need you to cruise so that we can start this carpeting.
If not, we're dead in the water.
Last piece.
The Murphy bed is done.
Hour and a half, but it's done.
It's done! It's finished!
Oh, my God! I feel so much better.
Well, we have an issue over here.
We have wet paint.
We're ready to put shelves and the desk in,
and the paint is still wet.
All right. So, here's the deal.
Let's get all the pieces for the office into place.
You have the desktop?
MATTHEWS: Getting a call, guys.
Okay, hi. How are you?
They are still on their second course.
I don't even remember.
How long were they gonna take per course?
I think it was 20 minutes per course,
and right now, they're taking closer to 30, so it's great.
That's good. That's good.
We got over an extra half an hour in there for their meal.
So, make sure that this pace continues.
I want to get to the end of this project
and not have to stall them at the end of the night.
Sounds good. I can do.
This is our pre-assembled desk and floating shelf.
We want 30 to the top of the desk.
The cabinets?
...orange cabinets.
So, bottom of the desk should be at 29 inches.
29 inches, and he's got that. Okay.
So, now we got to find studs.
CORBIN: Yes.
They're bouncing so bad.
This is called a New Zealand stud finder.
We're gonna poke holes in the drywall
till we find a stud.
Get out of here.
What's going on here
is the drywall's actually adhered to the concrete wall.
So now, plan "B," which is fine, we're set up for,
we have to concrete anchor it.
Are you serious?
I'm so glad that we brought those anchors.
At least we're able to, you know, find a solution.
We'll be able to get it done.
So, the thing that you thought
was gonna take you no time at all so you wouldn't be behind
is now taking a lot longer than you thought it would.
I love that.
This is not looking good.
We are at the top of hour 4,
and all the construction should be done.
That place is a disaster.
We are at least a good 30 minutes,
maybe even 45 minutes behind.
I think our idea of going with a small crew
was really -- I don't know -- maybe a really bad idea.
Here's the scoop.
I need you to cruise so that we can start this carpeting.
If not, we're dead in the water, and they're gonna show up,
and we won't have the carpet done,
and we'll still be painting the walls.
You said maybe you'd need 20 minutes into this hour.
We keep running into roadblocks.
But we're getting there. This is the bigger shelf.
The last one will go, it's just one cleat.
We've already got our stud location.
A stud there and a stud there.
CORBIN: I'll fire those in.
Jim, I want to have a serious conversation with you.
HUBER: Okay.
They have to spend 45 minutes more at the restaurant.
That means they get home a little after 10:15.
That gives us an hour, maybe, and a half total
to get cleaned up and get this carpet down.
That isn't, is it?
No.
So, we're gonna have to stall.
Hello?
Andrea. We got some bad news for ya.
Uh-oh. What happened?
We have decided
that we do need to have you do the stall tactic
because we just need that extra time.
Well, we can definitely stall them.
Game on. We're gonna rock 'n' roll the rest of this.
All right. Bye, Amy.
I did not want to have to do that, but you know what?
Look at this place.
So, right now I'm a little freaked out.
I've never deflated a tire before.
I've got to sneak over there, make sure I'm not noticed,
successfully -- keyword "successfully" --
deflate the tire,
and then come back and have Ben not notice me.
Here we go.
Righty tighty, lefty loosey.
I was twisting it the wrong way.
I was tightening it on myself.
[ Air hisses ]
Oh! That's good. That's good.
[ Air hissing ]
[ Indistinct conversations ]
Oh, my gosh.
If I had, like, two of them, I could do it at the same time.
It doesn't even look flat yet.
This is crazy.
[ Air hissing ]
Oh, my God!
I can't believe I just pulled that off!
I have so much adrenaline.
I feel like I could lift a car right now.
[ Breathing heavily ]
MAN: Need more screws.
MATTHEWS: Yes!
The shelves are up.
The shelves are up!
They're gonna stay up, right?
[ Chuckling ] They're not gonna fall off the wall?
You're not making any promises.
Okay, so --
So, what are we, 24.5 minutes behind?
You are 24.5 minutes behind.
That means I need this room completely clean.
[ Drill whirrs ]
We need to get rocking into this room.
Can we clear this room of people
and let Kara and the design team get the decor in?
I need two people to start carrying the couch in.
Who's free?
All right.
Okay.
[ Indistinct talking ]
Yep.
How long are we gonna hang curtains here?
We have to get all the furniture in here, like, right now.
Yay!
So, there's a corner piece that goes there.
[ Cellphone rings ]
Hey, Andrea. What's happening?
Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy.
I'm out there deflating his tire,
and all of a sudden, we see him
come out for a smoke break.
His car is parked right in front of the door.
Well, he didn't see us.
What does the tire look like?
Is it bad? Is it looking flat?
Well, the tire is flat.
There is no way he's missing that.
So, tell me where they're at with the meal right now.
They're wrapping up with their meal,
so they'll be coming out and finding their flat tire pretty soon.
The meal's almost over.
They're still gonna be back here within the hour.
But maybe an hour.
Okay. Okay, good luck.
All right.
Everybody hear that?
We got maybe an hour, if we're lucky.
[ Indistinct conversations ]
CORBIN: Amy.
Here is the final piece of flooring.
The floor is 100% done.
[ Indistinct conversations ]
We need to clear out the workroom.
We need to move vehicles.
This is no longer a construction site.
This is complete cleanup mode.
It looks like -- Oh, yep.
They're definitely getting up right now.
I think they just gave their bill to the waiter.
And they should be coming out any second.
It's "go" time.
They're slowly walking.
Ben just saw it.
Ben just saw the tire.
He just bent down. He called Kelley over.
[ Chuckles ] I'm sorry, Ben.
Okay, so they're getting the spare out of the trunk.
Oh, I am sorry, Ben.
But your basement is gonna be worth it.
We are pretty close,
and there ain't slowing this one down.
Hey, everybody! We got half an hour!
Move!
We need to get out of here.
[ Soft thud ]
Hey-o.
[ Drills whirring ]
Yep. No, I know.
Jim on the curtain rod.
Or, no. You two move this now.
You move that.
WOMAN: Oh, it doesn't fit in there!
Call coming in.
What's happening?
They're changing their tire right now.
Awesome. How far are they into changing the tire?
Are they looking like they're gonna leave
in 10 minutes, 20 minutes -- What do you think?
I can maybe squeeze another 10
maybe, maybe, maybe 15 minutes out of them.
Hey, everybody. We got half an hour.
MAN: All right! Let's go!
MONTEZ: Okay. Okay.
They're leaving right now.
All right. Here we go.
We are well on our way.
We're almost there.
I mean, I hope Amy's ready
because there's nothing I can do now to stop them.
WOMAN: This picture's gonna hang up there.
Oh, right here.
Ready? Roll it.
MAN: Hey, screw gun.
MATTHEWS: Hold on. Hold on. Call coming in.
We are pretty close,
and there ain't slowing this one down.
They are on the road,
and they're already traveled about 10 minutes.
So, we're on a countdown.
WOMAN: We need a hanging kit!
MAN: Hang on once second with that.
[ Indistinct conversations ]
[ Vacuum whirring ]
MATTHEWS: All right. Done.
MAN: Shh! Shh! Shh!
KELLEY: Hello?
[ Door closes ]
I think he's gonna pass out.
He's opening it.
Okay, okay, okay.
Knock, knock.
Whoa!
Am I in the right home?
What do you think of your new house?
I think it's unbelievable.
I don't know where I am right now.
Welcome to your new media room.
You have just seriously been raided.
I think it's awesome.
This is a place for you guys to relax.
You don't have to do it now.
You're gonna have a baby,
and you don't have to do anything!
I was just telling her at dinner that, like,
I have so much to do.
I don't know what I'm gonna do with this downstairs.
You had no idea what you were gonna walk into,
and she's been in on it the whole time.
You haven't seen it, either?
It's beautiful.
It doesn't look anything like what it used to.
Well, thankfully, yeah. Exactly.
I can't believe you found the bed.
I'm just -- I'm, like, shocked right now.
Just had to change a flat tire, too, so I'm like...
You know why you had to change a flat tire?
Did you guys do that? Oh, my God!
So, you did this all in, like...
'Cause I was down here at 4:30.
And it was a nightmare.
I have an amazing team hiding in your basement.
Hey. Nice to meet ya.
He's our fixer.
This is Kara. She's our designer.
Nice to meet you.
She's in charge of all the beautiful stuff you see.
This is our great construction team --
Andy, Craig, Scott.
I've noticed over the past month footprints,
and it's been freaking me out.
I don't know if it's you guys.
[ Laughter ]
We're glad you guys came back in the dark,
because we've been tracking in and out of your house
for the last five hours, like, nonstop.
Unreal.
The fireplace looks nice.
MATTHEWS: The fireplace.
We kept your wood-burning fireplace, TV up here.
All of the components are set up.
Jim hooked everything up, so this is ready to roll.
BEN: It's very similar to what I was gonna do,
'cause I hated that box.
Take a look in this room.
Now, you already discovered the bed.
But we knew that you needed an office space to work,
but we didn't want to take away your guest room,
'cause I know that with the baby coming,
you're gonna have a lot of relatives coming.
So, we wanted this to be a rocking guest room for you.
So the Murphy bed came in to play.
So, your wife has been in on this from the beginning.
She reached out to us. Why exactly?
[ Voice breaking ] I love Ben so much.
He does so much for our family, and...
I just wanted to do something nice for him
that would take all of this work off of his plate.
I love you.
[ Voice breaking ] Okay, now I'm crying, too.
Anyone else crying? I'm totally crying.
Hey.
It's gorgeous!
What are you doing here?
Oh, you know, just helping out.
You deflated my tire?!
You almost caught me!
I want you guys to just dig in,
and we want you to relax and enjoy your new space.
Thank you so much.
This is what we talked about.
That's what we wanted to do.
Oh, I am so full from that meal right now.
Don't even talk to me. I am so hungry right now.
[ Laughter ]
It's starting to settle in a little bit
that the basement's been finished.
The night of the build, he came down,
and I could tell he loved it.
And obviously it was like
a deer in headlights -- shocked.
[ Chuckles ]
It's just amazing going out to dinner for just a few hours
and coming back and having this space
look completely different.
It looks so beautiful.
We've been using it for so many different purposes.
We had Ben's mom in town a couple weeks ago,
and she stayed down here.
Charlotte loves to come down here
and watch movies or read books or play with her toys.
WOMAN: [ Laughs ] Teddy's getting his picture taken.
Sometimes I think I'm gonna wake up
and everything's just gonna be gone
and I'm gonna be left with what I had before.
Seriously, I don't understand who wouldn't want this.
We got to spend a great romantic dinner together,
and then we came home and we had
this beautiful renovated basement.
So, we're very, very blessed.
