For almost a year, OCC Gamer's Guild has open is doors for all its students.
These passionate gamers are not just fighting in a virtual world, however, they also fight for a GREATER cause by hosting a fundraiser for the "Make-A-Wish Foundation".
During the Summer, we contacted a lot of charities around our area. We just wanted to really GIVE back and SERVE the community.
The fundraisers goal is to raise awareness for this charity that we are running for; also to raise money for the children.
Make-A-Wish is a nonprofit organization; all the funds we receive are through groups like the Gamer's Guild that intentionally bring groups together--people together.
In order to raise funds for a nonprofit cause. Every dollars that raise through these activities, grant the wishes for the children in Orange County.
We are grateful that the Gamer's Guild has chosen this event to donate their proceeds to Make-A-Wish of Orange County.
I do consider this club to be like family. All of us know each other very well.
Of all the other clubs that I've join, none of them are as close and have as much fun as we do.
Events that we try to do like the Make-A-Wish event, we try to use our game not just as something we do for fun, not just a hobby. But we also use it as a TOOL to reach out to the community.
I wish we could do more events like it, its absolutely incredible that we can get people outside the club to join and raise money for a great foundation.
I have meet some amazing people, some of my favorite people that I talk to every single day. And then we get the people who are like siblings as well. So, its definitely like a family.
But, the whole reason I joined was to meet new people and get a sense of community--to feel like I belong somewhere. That was definitely been accomplished here.
Whether you are a casual gamer or not a gamer at all, one can not deny the immense passion these young warriors have towards VIDEO GAMES and the COMMUNITY around them.
