Hi. I’m Gerry Oginski, a New York medical malpractice and personal injury trial lawyer
practicing law here in the state of New York. Today’s video tip is about a failure to
diagnosis lung cancer in a woman who was being treated by young doctors in a clinic at a
very well known hospital, here in Manhattan. Well, in this particular case, this woman
continued to be seen and treated in various clinics in this particular well known hospital.
And unfortunately for this woman, the doctors continued to fail to recognize and understand
the significance of the problems she was having and failed to properly interpret the different
tests that she had. Whether it was a CAT scan, whether it was blood work up, whether it was
a physical examination. And because of their delay in recognizing her symptoms and the
test results it caused the cancer she had in her lungs continue to grow and go unchecked
and untreated. It was only much later in time, when the patient came back with such severe
problems, was she seen by one of the senior doctors who recognized immediately that she
had lung cancer. And when they went back to look and see what the other treatment they
had provided to her, they recognized that the records and the tests clearly showed that
she had evidence of lung cancer way back when -years earlier. This woman died of a direct
result of these young doctors failing to recognize the significance of the tests and the x-rays
and the CAT scans that were clearly visible. And every one of the experts that I showed
the records to confirmed that there was evidence of her lung cancer years earlier. So what’s
the point of this video? If you feel that a doctor is not paying attention to your complaints
and not paying attention to the test results, then I strongly suggest you get a second opinion
whether by another doctor in training or hopefully by one of the senior attending, the senior
physicians who can give you a different opinion. And that’s it for today’s video tip. I
want to thank you for joining me here in New York. I’m Gerry Oginski. Have a great day!
