A Smoking Hot Demonstration of Wave Soldering Produced by: Miles Lee Clouston "I'm a Slave" Performed by: Jerry Reed
Video shown at 3x speed.
Video shown at normal speed.
Please take note of the solder wave.
Prior to the PCB's entering the preheat tunnel,
flux is applied by a similar wave process.
This causes smoke when the PCB's cross the solder wave.
The smoke is not due to the operators
smoking cigarettes or roasting hot dogs.
An exhaust fan is provided for proper ventilation.
Wave soldering is a fast, relialble process.
It provides increased manufacturing output vs. hand soldering.
Wave soldering can be used in the presence of previously mounted
SMT components when properly masked to prevent damage.
The use of wave soldering also reduces the number
of burn injuries to clumsy soldering operators.
