>>>Stephen Mergener: We've become a throw-away society. Everything gets thrown away. It's
made to last only a short period of time because they, businesses want to make new stuff. So
we're just trying to use things that were made well in the past and turn them into future
assests.
[clunk]
We're always searching for things that people are tossing out, giving away or no longer
want, and we're trying to find a new life, a new purpose for them, and so this grandfather
clock is not going to be a clock anymore, it's going to be a storage shelf.
Well first of all it's trying to determine what you're going to repurpose it into. The
first thing is basically strip it down to its useable parts and repair anything that's
broken and put it back together.

Simple projects could take a day. This one's a little more complex and it'll probably take
a week's worth of work putting it all together.

So we're going to put in three shelves. One at the top, one in the middle, one at the
bottom to give it some storage for the building.
Always measure twice, cut once.

Just being able to use a saw, a hammer and screwdriver is a good way to start and then
if you can do some simple painting, that's sometimes all that's required.
And if you can't find a use for it or a purpose for it, maybe somebody else can, so start
there.
