TRANSCRIPT – DISCOVER YEAR 7 IN SECONDARY SCHOOL
>> Lucas Hi I’m Lucas and I just finished my Year
7 year at Atwell College. This is my friend Ashley and this is my class
>> Class Hi
[students walking around school and into classroom]
>> Ashley At the beginning of the year I felt like you
probably do now, a little bit scared and worried about going to secondary school but it’s
not that bad at all. In lots of ways it’s better than primary school because there is
so much more to learn and do.
>> Lucas We’re going to show you around and explain
how things work so you know what to do when you come to secondary school.
We are going to work out the circumference of the circle. This is our equation the circumference
equals five times the diameter. This one has a diameter of six. What’s the answer going
to be?
>> Lucas In high school we have to be a lot more organised
for our subjects so we can hand in things that are due. Also when you are more organised
you have more free time to do what you want.
[school yard]
>> Ashley In secondary school you will find that you
do science in a real science lab and do all sorts of cool science experiments. Today we
are using Bunsen burners.

>> Lucas In high school there are a lot of wide open
spaces and activities you can do during recess time.
[school yard]
>> Ashley And a canteen too that’s great
>> Lucas When you first start you’ll be worried about
getting lost but it’s ok because you will have orientation day and you will also have
maps and teachers to help you find your classes.

In secondary school there’s a lot of sports to play. My favourites are AFL, rugby, soccer
and basketball.

>> Ashley Well there you have it a day of secondary
school.
>> Lucas Thanks for following us around. Hopefully
you won’t feel as nervous about starting next year. You’ll meet a lot of great people
and have a lot of fun. See ya.
>> Ashley Bye
