Οn today's outing we were very lucky to have with us the guys from Nikaia,
so that they would estimate the situation.
In addition to our animal shelter, we also help other groups of volunteers who help stray
animals in the streets, which is very important too,
because you never know in advance what you are going to face every time you go there.
Come on girl... New guys have come to see us, come, come.
We are privileged to own a shelter in Nikaia.
Because this way the animals can have their treatment regularly while in the streets,
dogs run many risks on daily basis, they can be killed in car accidents or poisoned.
You see their special needs every time you come, you carry dry food and water, and anything else
you can offer them, you can give them a stroke or a tin of food, it's very important
because they don't have someone on daily basis as they do in shelters.
So, every time you come, you don't know what you are going to face and that's a volunteer's basic fear.
An incident that touched all of us is the case of Alysia, a puppy that the ghosts of Aspropyrgos
had found on their previous outing and transported to the vet's.
Today we were so happy to be with the guys from Nikaia so that they would estimate the situation.
We wanted to show them where exactly we had found Alysia.
Unfortunately, Alysia didn't make it as we were informed a while ago,
she died.
So we have come here, determined to find her siblings,
and we found one of them dead, the other one is lost somewhere.
Alysia had the ''chance'' to diein somebody's arms whereas
this one died alone.
And you realise that we are so few.
And unfortunately this incident won't be the last one.
You are overwhelmed with emotions, you are wondering what will happen to the rest of them.
Today, fortunately something nice happened.
Though we were desperate because of Alysia's death this morning and her second sister's death,
we were searching hopelessly for the third puppy when suddenly she appeared in front of us.
We are going to tranport her to the veterinary clinic.
She certainly has a problem in the left eye she may even have lost it, we'll see that.
We are going to do the best for her.
We wish that she will recover as soon as possible and find a home
or at least temporary hospitality and then her forever home.
We want to thank with all our heart the Animal Welfare Association of Nikaia-Keratsini who were with us on the 101th outing.
With their precious help, some souls will never return to the streets of Aspropyrgos again.
