How to draw manga, PaigeeDraw. This tutorial teaches you how to draw a chibi.
PaigeeDraw Cotton Candy chibi tutorial, step 2 finelining.
Hi this is Paigee from PaigeeDraw. In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to fineline a chibi.
Now we will start finelining a chibi. I use a Copic Multiliner SP fineliner available on my online store at http://shop.paigeedraw.com .
I use a 0.2mm Copic Multiliner SP fineliner to draw chibis.
You can find Copic art supplies at my online store at http://shop.paigeedraw.com .
They can be very difficult to find at your local art supply store. They are only sold at specialty shops.
I am going to start with the eyes.
When you first fineline it, just make the lines small, you can make them thick later.
when you erase, often the ink will often erase. We will touch up later. after you erase it.
I hate finelining sometimes, but it is a necessary evil when you are trying to color.
when you fineline, just make sure you get the correct lines. If you make a little mistake, you cannot erase.
If you do make a mistake, you will have to incorporate it into your drawing, or try to erase with white out.
or white ink.
It never looks the same.
take your time when you fineline.
Another tip about finelining, is although you need to take your time,
when you do a continuous line, try to keep your pen on the paper at all times
Try to do it a little bit fast - that way you
will get a nice continuous line and it will not be choppy. If you go really slowly on large lines, your hands tend to shake, and it will not look nice.
Go fairly quickly and you do not have problems.
it is especially good to go quickly when you are doing straight lines.

I dont fineline in any particular order.
I just start finelining with whatever I want. But, when I am finelining, I tent to start with the upper layers first.
I try to fineline things that come in the front first.
if something is slightly behind, I tend to do that last.
for example if her hand is behind her dress. I would do her dress first.

ooops, the fineliner hit the face... what do I do?
Now we start erasing.
It is good to wait for 5 or 10 minutes before you erase, so your fineliner does not smudge. Copic Multiliner SP fineliners are really good, so you do not have to wait as long. You definately do not want your finelining to smudge.
If you dont want to wait 5 or 10 minutes. Start with the area's that you finelined first. They will be the most dry.
Do you have a copy of PaigeeDraw on iTunes? PaigeeDraw is an application that teaches you how to draw Manga! It is consistently in the Top 100 Educational applications on iTunes!
Copic ink is the best for not smudging.
Even then, if you dont wait long enough, it can still smudge.
almost done!
Now you just want to make sure that you got every single pencil mark.
Just be thorough. Now you are finished erasing.
Now we are going to start touch-ups. I always start with the face.
If you want your drawing to look interesting, you need to have,
some lines that are a bit thicker than the others. Since your eraser does erase some of the finelining,
It makes your lines look more grey instead of black. I always go over my eyes.
I make them a bit extra dark.
If you dont do touch ups on the whole drawing, it is best to at least touch up the eyes.
If you do just the face, it will stand out much more, so it is a good idea.
I like accenting the hair
this is my favorite part of finelining.
it is like shading, but not quite.
It is good to practice doing thick and thin lines.
If you are intested in doing an actual manga, since everything is black and white, it is good to do lots of practice with your fineliner.
I always do the back of the hair dark... Finelining makes your art much more interesting to look at.
I just did touch ups on the fast.
I just fast forwarded the finelining a bit, and we are almost done!
As you can see, I am just adding a little bit of shadow under the dress
I am adding a shadow...
almost done..
and... we have just finished the finelining.
so, Thanks for watching my PaigeeDraw How to Draw video tutorial.
